‘The Opposite Of December” by Poison The Well is the greatest hardcore record ever made. If you disagree you are a huge piece of ***. Literally everything about it slaps every dick on earth simultaneously. It’s like 25 minutes or some *** too, so you ***ing idiots have no excuse not to listen to it. If you listen to this album and rate it anything lower than a 4, I will personally drive to your house and cut your head off with a katana, kiddo. You wanna try me? Are you ***ing kidding me? Okay picture this: it’s 8:13pm. You’re in your parent’s office because they let you use the computer after they go to sleep. I see you from outside the window -- your headphones are on and you seem to be only moderately enjoying whatever you’re listening to. I notice on the desk is a CD case for The Opposite Of December. At this point I’m ***ing fuming. I pull a pair of camo shorts and air maxes out of my backpack and slip them on. I’m geared up and your ass is about to be dust. But then…. a look of ‘stank’ washes over your face… you’re hearing the breakdown for Nerdy for the first time. I sheathe my blade and put my jeans back on. I give this album 5 of 5 stars.

Easily PTWs best album. While everything stands out really well, we get a chance to hear chris beat the hell out of his kit brilliantly. Nerdy is my personal fave.

Light 4.5 - Extremely Influential, and sadly overly imitated record...
,,The Opposite of December'' is easily the most influential metalcore release of it's time, there is no other metalcore release, that have spawned as many imitators as this one, some of them were decent some of them terrible, but the original remains to be the best one.
So..What is it so special about this album ?? let's talk About that
,,The opposite of December'' is unique album, that is way ahead of it's time, and doesn't sound like anything before. mainly the production is unreal for 1999 metalcore release, drumming is produced and mixed exquisitely, just listen to that double bass, It's insane. Another thing I would like to talk about are the dynamics of the songs, Poison the Well are capable of changing between very melodic playing into massive chugg fest in the matter of seconds, and the vocals add a lot to the dynamics too, ranging from heavy screaming into some dynamic spoken word, to pristine clean singing, which adds a lot of contrast to this whole album. So this is sonically quite diverse pleasure.
I feel like I could talk about each song for another paragraph, but there is not place for that so some basic info: Most of the songs are very accesible, yet rather complex, they are mostly divided into couple of different passages and are very dynamic, some of them slightly miss chorus, but all of it is overshadowed by technical proficiency of each member... SO there You go Another little review done

While unfortunately (partly) responsible for legions of pale imitators, The Opposite of December is nonetheless a landmark post-hardcore record in its own right. There is a furious, melancholic energy to the proceedings, the emotion is palpable, and the songwriting is good. However, at a mere twenty-eight minutes, it's too short.

Mid 9 out of 10: This LP just has so much to offer for metalcore/hardcore as a whole scene. Basically, if you are a fan of hardcore of any sort, do not ignore this LP under any circumstances.

Touching on multiple levels with powerful lyricism, intricate riff work, crafty and unique melodies all juxtaposed with multiple different song structures and the ability to switch between being incredibly heavy and being somewhat soft and rhythmic, Poison the Well have crafted an album that asserts itself as one of the most dominant album's in metalcore and boasts its own individual feel that not many albums can claim to have.

This album is probably one of the most influential and revolutionary emocore albums. It has fantastic lyrics that probably everyone can relate too. The only problem is that their are so many albums that sound just like it, it is hard to enjoy. A great album that any fan of emo, post-hardcore, or metalcore should listen too.

This is my second favorite cd in the metalcore genre. Next too Waking the Fallen. It is truly an amazing cd. What's more amazing is how young they were when they made the album. I suggest getting this.

In my opinion, this is one of the greatest metalcore album ever. Chugging guitars are about and the best scream in metalcore is present along with crisp and clean drumming. The only disapointment is only nine songs and not even making it over the thirty minute mark. Despite the shortness, it does not bring down the rating one bit. You can't say your into metalcore or hardcore if you haven't heard this album.
