If you take time to listen to this album thoroughly, from beginning to end, you will find it to be equally as great as "Out of the Cradle," which most tend to regard as his solo masterpiece. Lindsey seems more mature, calm, "settled" throughout this album. There is a subtle beauty that runs through each song, and of course the production is not as elaborate/bombastic as previous efforts. It is quieter, showcasing someone who has seemingly come to terms with the inner demons that may have tormented his past and found a sense of joy and happiness with his current life. It isn't one of those cheesy, lovey-dovey, I'm-so-damn-happy-wth-my-new-leave-it-to-Beaver-life type of records...Lindsey will always have some kind of pain/sadness in his music- and that's what makes it so great. These are happier songs, but there is still a lingering struggle for balance and peace. The music is GORGEOUS. Cast Away Dreams is majestic. It Was You is so catchy that even the in-your-face lyrics can not knock the appeal. It's a brilliant piece of work from a legendary artist who has truly come into his own. You can only expect more greatness from Lindsey, it seems. It would seem he is almost incapable of disappointing. Highly recommended, for fans or just casual listeners.
