If you've ever wondered what would happen if a technical death metal band could write as well as they played, Gorod is your answer. With their sophomore release Leading Vision, Gorod proves that their blend of complex arrangements and technical execution is second to none. By adding a progressive slant to their already original sound, Gorod outdoes themselves in nearly ever respect: the lyrics are intelligible, the vocals don't come in at seemingly random intervals, and the level of technicality has been upped to a new height, all without turning the album into a total mess. One of the best technical death metal albums to ever be released.

Favourite death metal album of all time. Technical, but catchy. Heavy, but not over-the-top brutal. There's something to being French and playing death metal.

this album really caught me off guard. neurotrip was decent, but it never really grabbed my attention. two spins of leading vision and i'm hooked. every instrumental element is performed with the utmost of expertise, and finess. each song has its own personality, developing a diverse album that never gets old or repetitive. this reason i didn't give this a 5 is because i haven't had it long enough to see if it ccan pass the replay test. i try to get my friends who don't listen to any death metal at all to check this album out, as i can't see how anyone couldn't appreciate such a masterfully orchestrated "technical" death metal phenomenon. seriously.

Like the debut, has many many flaws, but has neither the excuse of being a debut nor the novelty factor for me to save the rating. The first half had me looking at a 2.5 range rating honestly. It felt a lot more wankery and like it had fewer cool moments than the debut - in reverse proportions almost. 1 has no intro whatsoever and goes chug chug right away. The midtrack riffing is fun, but the vocals and especially the pig squeals in the second half are really not my jam - a recurring criticism here.2 at 1:05 is pretty darn cool, but 3 then goes on to wankeriness and awful soloing etc. I like the instrumental tech stuff like min 2, but it is quite rare. 4 is less bad, 5 brings the pig vox again but the instrumental section at 2:30 is really cool. Then, after a rather laughable intro, 6 starts an upwards shift in quality in the album, with from 0:55 onwards the longest uninterrupted streak of enjoyable music here that makes even the questionable vocals and soloing work quite well - probably the best track here. 7 continues this with a meh intro but a nice opening riff. On 8 the porcine wankeriness is back at min 1 but then it goes away again and the riff at 2:15 frankly owns. See what I mean by good moments interspersed with bad stuff? 9 has an awful start but doesnt get too bad after that, and 10 changes things up a bit with groovey ouroboros-esque stuff that I dont mind (preferable to soloing heh) and then an outro that is, well, a nice surprise although questionably fitting. Some rare great ideas, but overall I am far from convinced. 3.0

Gorod expand their soundscape, releasing another excellent album. While the forst album concentrated mostly on neoclassical death metal brutality, this one moves into more conplex, varied and progressive territory. They also make the album a bit shorter, whoch is certainly a plus. This is very close to 4 territory, but it lacks that little bit of spice imo. Still one of the best modern tech-death bands for sure.

Gorod is probably one of the most professional and tightest technical death metal bands today. This is quite obvious in Leading Vision. Their guitar and bass skills are absolutely incredible! Tight, quick and complex riffing and soloing is mixed with flawless and precise drumming. But this type of tech-death is quite different than most tech-metal bands. There is almost too much guitar trickery and it can be a quite tedious listening. All the intros are really interesting and intriguing but the rest of the actual song becomes boring. The first four tracks are great but the rest of the albums really drag. The band is cool, the music is cool and the album concept is cool, but... You will either get bored by this or amazed by this album.
