"Fazers" is one of the most misleading tracks of all time. The sweeping, space-age nature of the beat wanders you to believe this is MF Doom over more fluttering and atmospheric beats, which would be pretty neat, but its far from it. Rather, it's MF's goons from Monsta Island Czars jumping over some of biggest, chillest beats recorded. "Anti-Matter" stands out due to MF and Mr. Fantastik having fantastic chemistry, and you just can't ruin the jazz of "Next Levels", no matter how many goons you send. The fact is, these are some of DOOM's best beats, and his apes just ruin this. Only "No Snakes Alive", with MF Grimm and Rodan sounds truly good with guests, and even then, DOOM almost derails it with his flow which complete ignores the beat. It's shameful to give anything MF DOOM related a 2.5, but whaddya know, this isn't that much of a DOOM record. MF Grimm kills most of these beats on Special Herbs and Spices Vol.1, i suggest you look at that instead of this.

He really couldn't miss, could he? MF DOOM's Take Me to Your Leader is decidedly not a DOOM album, and more of a DOOM & Friends album. And it's a damn great one at that. This album features some of the best and most adventurous production I've heard from DOOM thus far and while yes, his presence on the mic is never taken for granted, "I Wonder", "Krazy World" and "Fastlane" are massive highlights on this record. It also features one of the catchiest songs in DOOM's massive catalog - "Anti-Matter" with Mr. Fantastik. Even the little instrumental interludes with nothing much but samples are, to me, just as interesting as those on Madvillainy. Sure, this isn't exactly the album that will move mountains but you can tell this prolific era in DOOM's career was one where he took every little project seriously. I think I might take it over The Mouse & The Mask at the moment.

8.4/10... Loved it. The character portrayals, interesting stories and very different sounding production from DOOM's other efforts. Reminds me of Mr. Hood at times.

"Take Me to Your Leader" is MF DOOM's work that features the best samples and melodies. Sometimes i don't understand why people detest this album so much, if it really is what MF DOOM has always been and even a little better. All the influences of the cultural market and what he always liked, was mixed to create this masterpiece that has not left my head since 2013. Just give one more listen to absorb this, because it's not possible that many people consider this his worst job (not counting their collaborative albums).
