Disappointing. There's hardly any post-Zoey Deschanel heartbreak inspiration to be found here. She deserved
better.

For some reason, it seems I dig new Death Cab more than most. Oh well, this is fantastic.

With the exception of the album opener, No Room In Frame, Death Cab has never sounded so woefully
boring and uninspired.
The instrumentation shift into an 80's synth and pads set up is really awkward for them. It makes
Ben sound like he is the only member of the band. There are no dynamic shifts in terms of tempo or
mood within the songs of the record. They seem to bleed together in a sea of mid-tempo mediocrity.

Death Cab for Cutie manages to become even more lifeless and dry on this release.rOnce upon a time Ben Gibbard was a talented lyricist and a great musician, but he has slowly devolved into a boring, formulaic musician who's only selling-point is having once been good.rMost disappointing album I've ever listened to, considering the strength of the first two songs. If the entire album was as strong as the beginning, it could easily be Death Cab's return to form after a bad album, but following these two, every song is just LIFELESS to be honest, it's just a cash-grab at this point.rI miss the old Death Cab  rRIP, 1997 - 2008

Not as strong as their pre-plans discography, sure. But it sure as hell better than anything they've done since Plans. Yeah, the lack of breakup heart break may be a little disappointing but this is still a pretty strong record regardless.

Not on the same level as Plans or Transatlanticism. Probably better than Narrow Stairs and on pair with Photo Album. Still, too early to tell; only thing I can actually conclude is that this is way better than Codes & Keys,
