3.6 great | DaveyBoy EMERITUS | June 24th 15 | Culling themselves down from an octet to a quintet, it's a more focused River City Extension on their 3rd LP 'Deliverance'. The New Jersey indie-rockers still mix genres like it's a necessity, but it's the meticulous arrangements here that really catch the ear, with many including some absolutely stunning melodies. Not everything works, with most tunes still wandering a little too much, but the loose thematical concept revolving around self-doubt tends to keep the band - & more importantly lead vocalist Joe Michelini - in check over this 41 minutes worth. Recommended Tracks: Something's Gotta Give, Ohio, White Blackmail & Man of Conviction.
