More consistent than Bilateral and far superior to Coal, The Congregation is a massive
album bursting at the seams with unorthodox guitar riffs, spectacular drum work, and one
of the strongest vocal performances I have ever heard in my life. This album is
brilliant, challenging, and marvelously unique. It is also superbly mixed despite being
brickwalled, and manages to preserve the integrity of everything from the bass guitar to
brushes on the cymbals.
The Congregation is unquestionably a contender for 2015's Album of the Year.

Really challenging album, yet very interesting. A light on its own, but without the variety I wanted it to be. It may be equally good with Coal. I don't think it can reach Bilateral, but they're different in a manner. Strongly recommended. It must be a 4, but I'll let time decide.rEdit: time did its job just fine and gave this album a 4. Who am I to disagree?

This album has slowly grown to become one of my favourite Leprous albums, and one of my favourite modern progressive metal albums in general. The songwriting is top-notch, and it perfectly balances the heavier side of their songwriting with the more experimental aspects of the albums that would follow. I think Bilateral still takes the crown in Leprous' discography, but this album now holds a special place in my heart.

Close to a masterpiece. Great record by the amazing Leprous. Unique band. Favorite songs: "The Price", "The Flood", "Within My Fence", "Red", "Slave", "Moon" and "Down".

So this is prog, and that means that what I usually like in prog music is present, but the same can be said about everything I dislike in the genre. As always, the vocals aren't my cuppa even though they are objectively good (solipsism is a bitch y'know). Musically, it's pompous, overblown, and bringing not enough "oomph" factors compared to how musically proficient it is. But it's also epic, well-written-and-composed, and even possessing a moody attitude that make it stand out compared to Coal.

Growth in a great direction. Definitely a bit more straightforward than their previous efforts but that is not always
a bad thing. Many powerful vocal driven bits which at times does become a slight weakness of the album;
several of the choruses are classic. I also wish he would scream more, it is savagely powerful on this record.
The synth:guitar balance is also a bit off for me. Highlights: The Flood, Down, Slave, The Price. 100% Leprous
style wrapped up a tad more neatly and heavy on the Einar.
