Wow, thanks spotify. This is some bold stuff and I'm loving every single minute of it. What's so interesting about this poppy blur of distortion and melody is that it can do this without becoming strenuous. I wouldn't say this is exactly the album everyone has been waiting for to bring punk back to it's knees but I'd argue that seamlessly bringing together beauty and brutality like this successfully is it's own reward.

White Lung always delivers great punk records full of recognizable riffs - another one. Paradise's shtick is that it exposes more evident post-hardcore licks - sometimes made me think of early Alexisonfire. Can't say I am a fan of the vocal effects, but the songs are so catchy man.

Paradise is a record with a lot of good parts but the sum of those parts do not reach their full potential. The vocals are quality and suit the rest of the band well but May ends up sticking to the same style for most of the runtime and it ends up being repetitive. The guitars rip and roar with speed and bright riffs but riff to riff many of the songs become too similar. For instance, Below and Hungry really stand out compared to the rest and it would be extremely refreshing if more outlying tracks like that were featured. Tight songwriting but once again not much variation. Lastly, the production just feels a bit too smooth for the music the band is playing; it comes off as oddly dreamy for an angsty punk album. Enough with the negatives. White Lung have created some memorable tracks here with greatness in Narcoleptic, Below and Kiss Me When I Bleed. The album also has great pacing but in the end it suffers towards the second half where it fizzes out and loses the steam created in those earlier tracks.

Continued concretion of their now distinct and much entrenched sound, no doubt -- between Way's vehement vox and William's high-string-centric ninja-riffs and Vassiliou's dogged drummin', they have taken a somewhat sapped style and developed their own unmistakable rendition of it. But damn me if this isn't yet another near-carbon copy of their previous albums: okay yeah there's a bit more semi-polish applied, this clocks in at 28 minutes instead of the ushe ~20, "Below" is an even more conspicuous+spectacular tone-down than "In Your Home" was, and from a technical standpoint, they've improved as a group. How bout that creative growth tho? How bout that taking 2 years to make a 10-track sub-half-hour record (again) only to transmit a touched-up reiteration? Speaking of "In Your Home": now that was a laudable closer.
