A surprisingly great remaster of an already classic album from the godfather of metalcore bands. I'd give it a 6/5 if that were possible.

Converge breathes life into You Fail Me. The album now sounds cleaner, hits harder and provides a
new range of vibes. You can feel every strum and note, and the drums sound much more alive. The
atmosphere is just surreal. I have to agree that this may be the best sounding Converge album so
far, making me hope for more remixes and quality mixes for future releases.

Personally, I listened to this album religiously when it was released all those years ago, seriously considered myself part of the "Converge Cult", have seen them live almost more than any other band or artist on the planet and to be 100% honest the only thing I'm really noticing as the biggest improvement sonically would be how much meatier and heavy the drumming by Ben sounds this time around. Jacob's vocals sound a tad bit less muddled too, but nothing that is completely different. Also, what's with the bunch of punks on here calling Converge a metalcore band and how this is a metalcore album? Far from it guys, Converge has always been a hardcore band, one of the most defining bands of not only that genre but "extreme" music in general. If anything Converge is a metallic-hardcore band, with noise, drone, doomy and grind tendencies throughout their expansive catalogue, this being one the chuggier releases they've ever put out, but between this and Jane Doe, they were and still are innovators of the scene and musically different(especially) when this album was released in 2004. This album is classic on all levels and it changed my understanding of what music can be, regardless of this re-release or not.

I've never been a fan of Converge or metalcore in general but I think this just made me convert. I hated the original so much but damn I wish all metalcore sounded like this

Imagine a top 10 metalcore record of all time that has a shitty prod. Would be amazing to remaster it properly no? It's quite a shame the best 2010s Converge album is a remaster, but eh.

"You Fail Me Redux" is simply the same masterpiece, only with a more flawless production. All the elements that bothered (almost none) in the original release, received a special treatment here. It is difficult to define more about this work, since everything that needs to be spoken, was already said in 2004. Perfection in the shape of noise.

Clearer and flatter mix, just feels like a good modern hxc mix or at least what the more standardized parts of that genre strives for. Whereas the original was already very well produced and had an actual personnality: messy and stoically bileful.
This just doesn't cut it and isn't really anything to write home about. If anything it's a little boring compared to the original, with t/t really feeling like it's missing something..
