I found Ixnay on the Hombre to be a solid album that manages to match the quality of Smash, but not surpasing it. To me it seems that this is the album in which the band defines its sound and this comes through Noodles' (Kevin Wasserman) delivery of fast chords in a punk/pop rock fusion way, as well as Dexter Holland's thin and crisp vocals. It is a coherent and occasionally melodic album with a good balance between energetic and mid-tempo tracks, despite essentially being a punk rock release. I found the first three tracks to be great starters as the "Meaning of Life" which ignites the album is followed by the witless yet extremely catchy "Mota", before the groovy "Me & My Old Lady" appears. "Gone Away? is also an interesting, grunge-inspired track with a different vibe and texture. This was the second single released from the album and showed a deeper, more emotional side of the band. "All I Want" serves as one of the high-energy rockers and can serve as bridge Smash, as it feels like it could have been included somewhere within it. ?I Choose? is a nice, straightforward track that builds on funky rhythms with Kriesal and Welty?s bass and drums complementing Noodles' electric riffs. "Disclaimer" and "Intermission" are both funny and tongue-in-cheek additions but are well-placed and serve their own purpose. Recommendations: "Mota", "Me & My Old Lady", "Gone Away", "Change the World".

This album is a great album to go back to whenever you're bored of the pop music out there. Its almost a classic in my book thats why i rated it 4.5. Noodles plays some very catchy and great sounding guitar riffs. I love this album. Go buy it.

Great album makes me think of middle school. Loved it from beginning to end and the humour was a plus as well as the serious songs which balanced well.
