Easily the best and most underrated Finch album. Say Hello To Sunshine is a much darker, heavier affair, forgoing the pop-punk stylings of their debut album (the incredibly overrated What It Is To Burn). Everyone in the band stepped up their game here, especially Nate with his vocals. He has a Mike Patton Jr. thing going here and he pulls it off pretty flawlessly. The band's rhythm section has improved tremendously, favoring odd-time signatures and sudden meter shifts while the two guitarists trade off with some killer, off-kilter guitar riffs reminicient of Thrice making love to The Mars Volta. Aside from a few semi-clunkers (Hopeless Host, Bitemarks And Bloodstains), this is about as flawless mix of post-hardcore, prog, and alt-rock as you'll get.

The album that destroyed Finch's career. Finch took their original sound, and stretched it past
all their boundaries and potential. Finch showed tremendous growth musically and lyrically. They
completely challenged themselves musically and took the next step. This album should represent
what every single band should do when it comes down to developing their sound. Overall, this is
the greatest post-hardcore album of all time, and I will argue that it should be at least
considered for one of the greatest albums of all time. R.I.P. Finch

Nate sings 'This is the worst thing that you've ever done' on Say Hello to Sunshine's opener "Insomniatic Meat," and ironically many Finch fans felt that way about the album when it was released three years after the band's debut. Indeed, what doomed Say Hello to Sunshine was its lack of immediacy: this is an album which- due to its odd time signatures, quick changes, and variety- requires many listens to appreciate, and most of Finch's young fans simply didn't have the patience to absorb it. For the rest of us though, Say Hello to Sunshine is a brave and adventurous follow-up, featuring some of the best tracks of the decade, fantastic production, and a uniquely dark and tantalizing (at times Burtonesque) atmosphere.

Easily their best work, with a very different approach than What It Is To Burn, Finch nearly perfect post-hardcore in one shot. Vocals are reminiscent of Brandon Boyd, and the catchiness of the songs is undeniable. Musicianship is nothing special, but that is a plus, as if they had tried to experiment, it may have ruined what make this record so good

Despite the nauseating "Fireflies" I cannot recommend the album enough. It completely dismantles Finch's firm foundation and digs deep into the Earth to uncover something truly worth noting.

Say Hello to Sunshine, with a title like this you'd expect a What it is to Burn pt.II, but Finch has blessed us with a completely reworked evil sound. This cd is a decent into everything that we refuse to say, it is the insanity in all of us which we say isn't there. A good 75% of Finch's old fans have disowned this band because of this transational cd and by all means this is no sophomore slump. Sadly sometime after Finch released this cd they broke up. Three years of waiting for this and more waiting after for their break up and they are now a band again.
Say Hello to Sunshine everyone. It shines down on all of us in our darkest hours.
