4.5 superb | PrincyAli | July 18th 21 | Tyler blossoms like a flower (pun intended) as an artist. 4.6/5 Favs: Foreword, Where This Flower Blooms, See You Again, Who Dat Boy, Pothole, Garden Shed, Boredom, I Ain't Got Time!, 911 / Mr. Lonely, Droppin' Seeds, November, Glitter

4.5 superb | charlopiano | June 23rd 21 | Weird that I haven't rated it before. Tyler really comes together as a musician by really expanding his genres, leading to absolutely incredible tracks, with amazing features. I prefer Igor, but this is on the same level, Tyler is clearly a master at this point.

4.5 superb | Introu1 | March 29th 21 | Amazing album all the way through, all the feat. are amazing and so are Frank/Rex Orange. The lyrics are also really good and i cant name one song that isnt good, a classic. 4,5/5

0.0 | Jeffery J. Bigglestein | June 25th 20 | Just because the singles leading up to the album were good, and you have a crush on Kali Ulchis, does not make this the best Tyler album. /r/HipHopHeads gets a dopamine release everytime they say "911/Mr Lonely" is an underrated classic.

4.4 superb | Erwann S. STAFF | January 16th 20 | The moment a goofy and promising dude turned into an influential artist. He understood that pulling out messy 70 minutes outputs was not the best way to show what he's truly capable of. He refined all his influences and past projects into his masterpiece. The length is perfect, and the record flows exceptionally well, and the neo-soul and R&B additions are not yet the primary genre, even though it's not a 100% hip-hop LP. This is his definitive album because it takes everything that came before and hints at what will come in the future. Less sloppy and more focused than his first three albums, less neo-soul than IGOR, but still retaining his hip-hop influences. It's still weird, but not for the sake of being weird. It's weird because he's unashamedly showing who he truly is. The most sophisticated he's ever been, and damn, it feels good to see an artist reach his potential.

5.0 classic | YungSadgod | February 20th 19 | my favourite hip hop album of all time in terms of production, it's truly original, vast,
explorative, jazzy, atmospheric, and fun, fun, fun, fun, fun. Love everything about Tyler's flows,
lyricism, delivery, even his singing, and the features. This thing is like an infamous cartoon
villain coming to an agreement with the protagonist and deciding to tread the right path instead
of wreaking havoc everywhere he walks, and boy am I here for it. I simply cannot find anything not
to love about this album. It just lifts my spirits every time I listen to it, and Garden Shed is
simply one of the most amazing tracks I've ever heard. I cannot wait to see what he does next, and
if he manages to top this I'm most certain I'm gonna fucking die.

3.5 great | Katastrophiic | February 23rd 18 | Tyler's angry deep aggressive voice over some sick beats with some softer vocals/tunes added in makes this album uniquely stellar. Favs include: See You Again, Who Dat Boy? I Ain't Got Time! and Boredom.

3.5 great | 108mics.com | February 11th 18 | he got mad soft on this album but it's also so, so much better than any of his other projects
Bump |
4.0 excellent | Risodo | February 5th 18 | Living with criticism and bordering on mediocrity in some ways since "Bastard," Tyler finally managed to release a record that matches his success. The melodies, deep and sweet, join the romantic letters and the feeling of well-being and happiness in which the artist finds himself. The work, almost flawless, presents almost imperceptible flaws, finally putting the work of Tyler in evidence not only for its controversies, but for its qualities as a musician and producer.

3.5 great | cjbizzlebizzle | January 10th 18 | Tyler, The Creator lives up to the latter part of his name here generating a record that flows well through many different vibes grounded in West Coast soulful, funky hip hop. The stretch of See You Again (sublime singing by Kali Uchis) to Who Dat Boy (bangin' hard hitting raps) to Pothole (chill hip hop) really speaks for how much ground Tyler is able to cover on Flower Boy even if much of the record sticks to a chill, soulful West coast mood. The lyrics are very introspective and you really get a feel for who Tyler has matured into and it really benefits the record as a whole. Besides Tyler the guests really knock it out of the park and allow the album to bloom into one of the better hip hop efforts of 2017. Really works well as a full playthrough but Who Dat Boy, Pothole, Ain't Got Time and 911/Mr. Lonely are all great places to start.

Bump |
3.5 great | BRAman22 | December 22nd 17 | His more aggressive songs are the better ones on here, but the jazzy shit he has in some of the tamer beats is admittedly cool as fuck.
Bump |
4.5 superb | ramarae | September 14th 17 | Keeping it short, if you compare this album to any other Tyler album, you can tell this is a one of a kind, well, hopefully not, hoping his next projects are like this one. Inspiring all the way, or whatever adjective you'd rather use, it's putting Tyler on the right path.
Bump |
3.5 great | TheManMachine | September 1st 17 | For Tyler followers, this is surely most striking as a rewarding sophistication-fest. And not just by rejecting the rape jokes or softie singing or comin' out the shed as the gay guy he so assiduously-n-irrelevantly insisted he wasn't -- nuance, structures, and production are on a noticeably new plane. Go back to 09's 'Bastard': flow-wise and conceptually it's dogged as hell, but almost laughable how puerile and histrionic it sounds. His raps don't relay that same up-and-coming exertion as they used to and an array of guests take on alotta duty here, but this turned leaf provides a personality portrait that's more vivid and amenable than ever before. It makes his alienation+apprehension more sympathetic, the bangers broader and more bangin', the plentiful little deets worth digging for. Not bad for a scumfuck.
Bump |
2.5 average | notkanyewest | July 29th 17 | The good news: Tyler's rapping sounds as inspired as it's ever been, when he decides to actually try
and rap. "I ain't got time" is the first song of his I immediately wanted to hit repeat on since I've been
in high school. But the bad: I just can't stand most of the songs that revolve around singing. Not that
Tyler himself is such a bad singer, but all of these tracks sound the same. Fluttery, pastel drenched
chord progressions, some girl with a gravely voice I hate harmonizing with some dude who plays
guitar, and lines that sound like they were pulled from the old diary you're now too embarrassed to
read. Are any songs on here half as good as your least favorite song on "Blonde"? Not to me, and
he's too talented to be graded on a curve just because his subject matter has evolved.

4.0 excellent | Alabaster Jones | July 27th 17 | Tyler, The Creator used to be one of the most exciting figures in hip-hop. When he released Bastard in 2009, no one could've predicted than he and his crew would be cultural phenomenons for a few years. Since then, after a couple of lackluster outings and the near-disbandment of Odd Future, things got a little dicey, with many wondering if he would ever rise to prominence again. Now, he (as well as his crew) are creating better music than they ever have and are experiencing a creative resurgence. Flower Boy is pretty much the poster album for this, indirectly confirming that, yes, Odd Future is still around and may be becoming better than ever. Arguably, Tyler's greatest strength has always been his production, and this is ever apparent on this record, with lush neo-soul keys and synths, and smooth snares. His rapping is at an all-time high (just the way he ends a bar on the word "awkward" while simultaneously losing flow and making the song awkward for a split-second during "Pothole" is awesome enough), and the features here really tear it up whether rapping or singing. A lot of it sounds like The Internet, just with Tyler spitting over it, and that's pretty darn awesome. Needless to say, Flower Boy is Tyler's most mature and listenable record, and if it isn't his best project, it's only slightly below Bastard.

4.0 excellent | dihstyle69 | July 19th 17 | this is what the atrocious cherry bomb should've been if ot had been properly mixed and taken more seriously. you still have the odd shit that made tyler who he is nowadays but it never really takes the front seat and allows the more mature moments to stay in equality. the production is amazing this time around and it consistently gives every track what they need, wether it's a banger or a dreamy typa shit. by far his best project to date, and might be even better than his mixtape bastard. 4-

Bump |
3.5 great | crawdaddy97 | July 11th 17 | This might be one of Tyler's best creations yet. He's obviously grown up since "Goblin" while still holding on to adolescent
feelings of aggression, but in a different way. While his other albums focused more on surface emotions, Flower Boy shows
off the more introspective Tyler as he contemplates life and relationships with his friends and family. The production on a
lot of these tracks is also much more layered and expansive, but doesn't totally break away from Tyler's style altogether.
Some of the standout tracks include "Boredom", "911", and the oddly dreamy "Enjoy Right Now, Today."
Bump |
4.5 superb | Jasmine~ | July 11th 17 | Definitely his most realised work. Although some ideas tend to cut short before they really
blossom, the production on here is far superior to previous outings, and the album flows
brilliantly without the need for low-quality transitions. 3.9 Check: Who Dat Boy, Boredom,
