This album is raw, aggressive, and cathartic. There's so much energy and passion in all the songs. I like how the bass has a good presence in the songs, the guitar lines and riffs are very good, the drumming is tight, and the vocals are powerful. Davey has some very good lyrics on here and this album contains the classic God Called in Sick Today. It's hard to find anything wrong with this record unless you aren't into this type of music. The only thing that keeps this from being a classic is that it lacks a little variety. There are moments of it, but not too many.

Malleus Maleficarum is easily the best when it comes to their punk era (pre-STS). After I heard that, I gradually discovered how much of a breakthrough this album was for the band. One of the best.

lyrically this just might be the best punk album made. davey's lyrics keep you listening and draw you in. great bass lines too. my favorite songs are: Narrative of Soul Against Soul, The Prayer Position, At A Glance, and God Called in Sick Today

This was the last AFI album I picked up to collect the entire AFI discography and I can honestly say that this is my favorite. Malleus Maleficarum is one of the best songs I've ever heard from the band, (Next to Totalimmortal) and I will let anybody know that this is the album you should have in any hardcore-punk collection, it's fast, it's slow, it's just beautiful. My personal picks on the album are Malleus Maleficarum, Exsanguination, Clove Smoke Catharsis, God Called In Sick Today.
