4.0 excellent | clairvoyant | March 10th 18 | A breath of fresh air in a way that manages to happen without pushing any boundaries. There's no typical synths, lo-fi guitar, or folksy influence that can be found nearly everyday today. It's plain good songwriting, well-timed overlaid sounds, and consistency from track to track which produce a quality album here. An album worth checking out that won't feel dated in ten years.

4.0 excellent | Risodo | February 23rd 18 | "In A Poem Unlimited" is incredible, sincere, soft and absurdly fun. Entertainment and lightness were some of the prevailing sensations in my brain throughout the duration of the disc. The attention that the band receives is still very scarce and not in keeping with its quality. Take a listen.

3.4 great | Erwann S. STAFF | March 6th 23 | U.S. Girls (lie - it's only one US gal!) continue her 4AD foray with psychy tunes full of *nostalgia*, which works well when songwriting and production fully work together ("Pearly Gates" or the closer). However, some parts of the record feel like a clusterfuck of ideas gathered around a handful of truly great tracks.

4.0 excellent | cjbizzlebizzle | June 18th 18 | Meghan Remy and US Girls do a wonderful job seamlessly combining a trove of influences from over the last five decades into a sort of artsy-disco-psych pop record that sounds natural and right at home in 2018. There isn't a track on the album that should be ignored but there are several instant standouts. M.A.H. is the pinnacle of 'In a Poem Unlimited', a bonafide disco banger that serves as a platform for Remy's disappointment with the Obama administration. Rosebud, another top tier track, slows things down and showcases Remy's singing before going back into the grooves in Incidental Boogie. The contrast between the lyrics and groove of Incidental Boogie is startling and wonderful, Remy seems to have a knack for this. The album flies by at 37 minutes but it is clear that Remy was going for quality over quantity and the record as a whole has a great flow. A standout of the first half of 2018 and one that hopefully gets U.S. Girls more on the map, they deserve it.

3.5 great | TheManMachine | March 17th 18 | Meg Remy's disco-drifts further unshrouded from relative obscurity, still floating in a fog but with a newfound punch and fullness and flexibility. Sonically it's vibrant, varied, organic, a bit freaky, pops with pop potential and personality -- silly me misses the muck a bit. Singin' seems kinda stiffened and still demands a lyric sheet, but per usual peeping one pays off: "As if you couldn't tell I'm mad as hell" goes the buoyant chorus of a considerably veiled and regrettably refreshing Obama opposition, bold bangers "Incidental Boogie" and "Pearly Gates" are boosted by the subject of sovereignty reaped by many-a shitty male, and excavated from "Poem" is a mantra idyllic enough to warrant transparency: "No one needs to make a profit / No one needs to get paid".
