5.0 classic | technerd5150 | May 18th 18 | Unbelievable album. The band shakes off the chains of their previous bands and projects and concocts a finally crafted collection of startlingly original songs that flow into each other perfectly. Hotly anticipated, yet exceeds every expectation.

5.0 classic | GotDoritos | April 27th 18 | "The Kardashev scale, which is used to measure how advanced a spacefaring civilization is, is
nothing less than a technological path leading planet-bound organisms to becoming cosmic overlords
- basically, god. In these two new [Dyson saga] songs, the sentient, self-aware 'spaceship' that
developed from the swarm of robots that built the Dyson Sphere now finds itself traveling
interstellar distances at, well, nothing more than the speed of a truck, pulling the sun with it
by a technique called 'star lifting'." - Morean
Couldn't have said it better myself.
AOTY.

5.0 classic | malkuthian | May 20th 18 | Who would've thought it was possible, but they may have just improved on their almost perfect debut album. Stranger, more focused, more daring and, most importantly, more unique. The collective voice of this band stand alone in a scene that's filled with few innovators and their bland copycats. Long live these pioneers of a new style we shall all hopefully start calling 'Alkaloid' in a not too distant future.

5.0 classic | rudy4u51 | April 17th 24 | This has become one of my favorite albums over time. Rise of the Cephalopods is such a great song start to finish.

4.0 excellent | GamamJ | September 15th 20 | Even better than the amazing debut! The flow of this album is brilliant, and puts it above the debut. Less induatrial too. Brilliant playing and somgwriting without ever getting show-offy.

3.5 great | cjbizzlebizzle | July 12th 18 | A worthy follow up to their debut album and one the best acts out there right now to go really progressive and very technical death and make it work out so smoothly. Throughout Liquid Anatomy the group does a great job creating contrast between absurdly heavy death riffs and softer proggy sections. The vocalist seamlessly switches between aggressive growls and light singing suiting the flow of what the instrumentalists are doing. There is a ton of content here and Alkaloid focus less on defined song structure than they did on Malkuth Grimoire, it can be a lot to digest but repeated listening is rewarded in this case as it seems like there is always something new to be found. Alkaloid do well to retain the positive aspects of both prog and death metal in a brutal and musically complex style without giving off the trying to be radically complex vibe.

3.3 great | Trey STAFF | June 6th 18 | Alkaloid are finally starting to use some of that potential they only hinted at on previous releases. At this point they're basically 60% death metal and 40% progressive metal/rock, so they're definitely moving further away from the progressive death metal thing they started with and more towards an equal blend. The better (and increased) use of progressive metal is what really lets this album step up the quality. It's also much more focused than its predecessor.

3.5 great | Risodo | May 25th 18 | "Liquid Anatomy" has its great moments, some because of its great capacity to create innovation, and others to use established formulas in different ways. The problem is that the record does not hold until the end, seeming more like an effort to have long songs. These even lengthy songs do not feature original content until the end. Unfortunately Alkaloid's latest work falls on ostracism and people's need to think the music is going through good times in 2018.

0.0 | Black Daimon | May 22nd 18 | Every track tries something new -- which could be commendable, but it ends up coming across as a slapdash effort, full of ideas that never stick and sound like poorly rehashed trends of every metal and rock cliche ever to achieve popularity in the last 30-40 years. Truly a bafflingly nightmarish listen, full of all the glam rock, groove metal, and poorly harmonised clean vocals you could ever hope to never hear.

5.0 classic | noahconstrictor | May 21st 18 | This is one of those albums that you'll have to listen to multiple times to truly appreciate just how great it is. The genre-blending of death, prog, and even some melodic folk at times goes beyond each of the pieces they pull from into a truly amazing album worthy of multiple listens.

5.0 classic | PeterKillander | May 20th 18 | Startlingly diverse and original, perfectly performed, wonderfully mixed. As Decreed By Laws Unwritten is one of the heaviest songs I've heard in years, Interstellar Boredom one of the most frightening. This album keeps surprising me and I can't stop listening.

4.0 excellent | Robert Garland STAFF | March 3rd 18 | A definite shift in sound from these tyrants of death. The progressive elements are pushing to the fore-front hard. Liquid Anatomy is as lucid and clear as it can be while staying true to their swirling brand of death metal. Production is top-notch and clear without robbing the record of atmosphere. The Cthulhu still runs strong for this HP Lovecraft loving band.
