3.0 good | Erwann S. STAFF | August 31st 22 | When TFS go for Drones-like raging rock tunes like on the opener or "Soft Power", A Laughing Death in Meatspace effing slaps. When it goes for atonal shit, it's just atonal shit - and you gotta like atonal shit.

3.0 good | Rik VII (sound-off ratings out of 10) | September 3rd 19 | The album cover is spot-on, amazing. The music, I don't like quite as much. The sound is interesting, like a slower, more aggressive Joy Division at times while also utilizing some insanely noisy guitar sound settings. The instrumentation is simplistic, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but the drums in particular are some of the most boring I've heard. The vocals range from energetic to annoying and I can't really decide which overweighs the other. A good and somewhat fascinating listen overall, but nothing I'm expecting to return to anytime soon. - 5.5

4.0 excellent | TheManMachine | September 29th 18 | Diggers like to sing the praises of Liddiard's lyrics, but the thick-n-slurred accent and confounding arrangements often camouflage em. Certain curiosities will cryptically poke through -- crackerjack Australian coke, the USSSSSR, an adios for the cast of Happy Days -- but his unstable snarlin' suavity does the trick on its own, with fellow Droneser Fiona Kitschin supplying sweeter+clearer femme-vox foil. As for those confounding arrangements: masterfully messy and in the moment, dirty yet diapasonal, colorful and chaotic, refreshingly radical for a rock band in 2018. An exhausting thrill and a half.

3.5 great | cjbizzlebizzle | June 22nd 18 | Dissonant, chaotic and noisy post punk with a whole lot of other subtle influences and a nice contrast between the two vocalists. The guitar work and instrumental material in general deserves high praise due to it's abstract and unique nature. Nothing about the album is straightforward but it flows along very smoothly and naturally. Gareth Liddiard's vocals are probably not for everyone. At times it is a bit hard to buy his manic, desperate sounding vocals. His approach general comes down to him rambling on about real world issues and after four to five tracks this gets a bit repetitive and tiring. The album starts off with a massive bang in "You Let My Tyres Down' and comes close to reaching that quality again but not quite; this one is somewhat frontloaded and the quality fades in the latter half. A must listen due to its unique nature but after ten or more listens the magic starts to fade.

equipment that defined the sound of feelin kinda free, and is once again another step forward for
liddiard's constant boundary pushing "
Yeah, I don't know how you can listen to a song like Two Afternoons and not notice how much it
takes from the sound of a song like "Then They Came for Me".

4.5 superb | noahconstrictor | May 14th 18 | First off, you can't really go wrong with a band called Tropical Fuck Storm. You know you're in for a fun time by the band name already. Going in, I was expecting some fun, trippy stuff, and I wasn't disappointed one bit. The riffs are meaty and heavy, the vocals are varied and the lyrics are top notch, and everything else just melds into this amazing orchestra of sound. Certainly worth multiple listens just to fully dissect everything that's happening.
