Straight 4.5 for the most scary, intriguing and brilliant musical experiences I had this year. Deathspell "Omeguish" sound with lots brilliant jazz inputs. Fave Track: Chernobyl Blues. though this is to be listened in full.

There's a tuba feature in the first song, so instant 5 stars from me. This is some great, almost avant-garde at times, black death metal.

Balls to the walls dissonance that forgot that only blasting chaos wasn't necessarily a recipe for success. And then, the second fucking half brings welcome nuance to the aggressive maelstrom - and it's a winner.

This album will make you feel so dirty and impure that you will have to immediately take a shower after listening and hope that what you have done is not going to ruin your life. Cue the opening horns and Imperial Triumphant immediately transport you to some surreal nether realm where nothing is pure and chaos and evil reign above all else. The atmosphere is as thick as sludge and a dense fog seems to entrench the sounds that emanate from this vile creation. The production is amazing on this record. It is not crystal clear, it is foggy. It is not pristine, it is murky. This effect is what really allows the record to transport you out of your comfortable home and into this other realm. It feels like you are listening to a live concert in hell, you are around the corner and you don't wanna play witness to this ritual. But, in the end your curiosities get the best of you. You can't resist and you must become part of the primal act Imperial Triumphant produce here. Very few records go this hard with avant garde black/death metal carnally infused with avant-jazz and come off as relentlessly re-playable. A... triumph.

Vile Luxury turns out to be a rather valid synopsis of the deportment within; i.e. clangin' and bangin' blackened death metal that torments/disorients/enthralls with its formidable tangle of technicality, tenacity, capacity, strange structuring, and of course, utter filth. Really runs the gamut in its own inimitable way: slow and sparse sections met with mind-boggling barrages, horns-n-piano used for straight jazz breakdowns and stumbling into a sleazy lounge at 3 a.m. and emulating some sort of preposterous parade, frontbeast Ezrin's near-comical slime-growl contrasted with Yoshiko Ohara's absurdly bloodcurdling guest shrieks. Seemingly glad to stumble over their own skill so long as the resulting slop adds to the frenzy, and right, they scare the shit out of me too.
