Hard-hitting and driving and actually pretty good. This album caps off a career littered with aces and bogeys with a psychedelic swirl; tracks 1-3 rock pretty hard, "The Shock of the Lightning" sounds like a Foo Fighters clone, and "Ain't Got Nothin'" and "The Nature of Reality" are low-hanging bollocks, leaving "Soldier On" an underwhelming finale. "Falling Down" is the highest point, and it's damn good. Overall: enjoyable. These days I'll take this over What's the Story.

Let's face it. In Oasis' Career, Oasis will never go pass their first two albums and Dig Out Your Soul is close to the truth. The only memorable song is The Shock of the Lightning and even then, it sounds like the who. The rest of the songs are filler just so the fans can be happy and that's what this album is for. JUST THE FANS.

Up to track 7 it's really really good, then it starts to taper off. There's no energy in the vocals and it just plods along by track 9.

The bootleg beatles butcher some more of their idols(!) back catalogue, particularly when Liam's allowed to write tracks. The guy named his son Lennon in honour of his idol. Mccartney must be relieved.

I think with this Oasis album, I have finally realized that Oasis are not, and never, will be the band they were from 94 to 98. This album no longer pines for those days like Let There Be Love and Stop Crying Your Heart Out did. It�s all Oasis mark 2 on this album, building on the groundwork of Don�t Believe The Truth and adding a lot of organ. And while I�m glad that they are moving on, I just wish it was better than this. Its so by the numbers that they no longer bother to emulate The Beatles, they just sample their songs and voices. In the DVD that comes with the album, Noel says something like, �People are always telling me to get out of my comfort zone, but I am just going to stay there and keep making great songs.� Minus the great songs, that about sums up this album.
...Oh, and Shock Of The Lightning is an unbelievably blatant rip-off of The Way It Is by The Strokes.
