Black Dresses are like the gift that keeps on giving, and in 2018-2019 they have just kept on giving and giving. Thank You has a lot of really nice tracks (Dog Shit, Water, There's Nothing Worth Dying For, Wheel of Fortune) but in the end the production and electronics are quite as dynamic as the full lengths that bookend this one. This album is very noisy and tends to use static as a crutch over a majority of the records runtime. This static effect ends up being a bit annoying by the time the album is over and overly abrasive. Shoutouts to Rook's screams in 'There's Nothing Worth Dying For'.

A cute/abrasive combo so caustic+booming it damns Sleigh Bells to hell, adolescent anguish and detached affectations so outrageous they're firmly make-or-break or both -- if you can stomach the blare-n-character the hard part is not hearing a gimmick. But this duo's raspy shrieky wail-fests are so unprecedented and pure, sonics in fact a rather genius gathering of industrial and pop that don't care much for levels or forgiveness, amateur innocence that's silly and hooky yet seriously searing. Check the grotesque "Wasteisolation" for scuzz-validator, "Wheel of Fortune" for true dream chorus within a nightmare, "Look Away" for guaranteed mosh pit/rave. See vox interruptions for a therapy session, having a laugh, hacking up a lung, turning up the volume. What speaks more to you: "All I see is dog shit / Yeah I know it's hopeless" or "All I know is nothing's gonna be alright"?

The production is interesting but f**k are the vocals and lyrics just total garbage. I understand what the message is but it's just so incredibly "snow flake" and preachy, this whole "marginalized people" movement with artists/bands lately has become utterly obnoxious in every sense of the word. I appreciate the fuzzed out nature of the album, but it's still not fully fleshed out and is just missing a lot of the mark, but once again the vocals are just grating and lack any real depth and true emotion that this duo is trying to convey.

*Edit* I also tried rating it a 1.5 but it switched my rating to a 0*
