4.5 superb | Fernando Alves STAFF | April 12th 19 | If someone asks me how extreme metal will sound like in the next decade, the answer will be something like "it will take a more hybrid approach, obviously." Of Rot and Ruin is more than a product of its time, it's a taste of what's to come and as the wise man said, we're living great times, the best of times.

4.5 superb | IMSBRO | April 12th 19 | this album is fantastic. Complex and deep but also easy to listen. Death metal is still kicking in these years and band like Hath deserves full attention

4.0 excellent | Have you tried jamming Helcaraxe? CONTRIBUTOR | April 24th 19 | Hath strikes a beautiful balance between monstrous density and spacy, airy melodies. There are earth shattering chugs and blast beats and gnarly growls that transition nearly symphonic metal-like cleans and arpeggios that all feel uniquely Hath. If anything, Hath sounds like a band that takes from anything and everything in a way to paint their own vivid image of scoured desert landscapes and full scale hellish warfare. This rules.

4.5 superb | NoHellsNoHeavens | April 18th 19 | Oh man, this album gets the juices flowing. Their song 'Currents' is probably the best song I've
heard all year long. I think this album is going to be hard to beat this year. We truly are living in the
best of times.
Also, A+ for the Dark Souls references throughout the album!

4.5 superb | Chino smoking it up! | April 12th 19 | This may please fans of more old school death metal (Opeth, Bloodbath, Cryptopsy) but also the
more proggy new school ones (Slugdge, Sulphur Aeon, Aborted). One of the best DM releases of the
year so far and it will be hard to match. Recd Tracks - Rituals, Accursed; Worlds Within.

4.0 excellent | cjbizzlebizzle | August 15th 19 | Meteoric energy and a massive wall of sound that somehow manages to stay uptempo for the majority of the 54 minutes without tiring the listener or becoming repetitive. Hath manages to do this with some of the best metal songwriting chops of the year so far. A lot of the album is backed with pounding double bass aggression but Hath does so well to break these sections up with sustained chord progressions, the occasional acoustic bridge, some proggy licks, at one point a bass/guitar solo section and in general they have created very dynamic tracks. It seems like they pay great attention to track and album flow when writing. The vocals also play into the effect of keeping the album fresh as it progresses. The vocalist has an excellent growl where you can understand most of the words but it still sounds intense and the occasional vocal hook goes a long way in this journey. Certainly one of the flat out heavier metal releases in recent memory that shows off technical prowess and subtle prog elements without ever having to be flashy thanks to excellent songwriting and vocals.

4.0 excellent | MasBarHigeuoris21 | May 4th 19 | This is really pretty damn good. This is similar to Slugdge but just not as progressive. This is mainly blackened death metal mixed with a little bit of progressive metal. While this might not be that original a lot of what is done here works. This will definitely have you banging your head. I agree that this album should have been shortened a little bit but for what it's worth, it's a good listen. This band definitely has a lot of potential.

4.5 superb | coma2rium | April 25th 19 | Hot damn. This is what the fuck metal needed after last year's out there additions from Rolo Tomassi and The Armed. This is a more traditional vein of DM fused with modern flourishes that comes together in a super smooth, wholly engaging package. The vocals are monstrous, the riffs are varied and absolutely crush, and the whole thing has an air of metal being pushed into new directions.

4.0 excellent | Panzerchrist | April 24th 19 | Slugdge have come back firing on all cylinders only a year after their roaring blackened death metal opus, 'Esoteric Malacology', sounding more powerful than ever before. The choral melodies are sharp, the riffs are eviscerating and the compositions are as tight as ever. It's disappointing to see a lack of slug-related content across the span of the full album, but the general consistency makes up for any disappointments therein.
