I quite disliked two thirds of this, but the last third is cool. I had a hard time with the vox, but that's not the only problem. 1-3 have cool intros, but the tracks develop into things I don't like too much, with gimmicky bits and solos, and by the end of 3 I was already bored. The album almost feels like (but doesn't sound like) power metal in places. 4 has a nice ambient feel, but then evolves melodically into boring power metal territory before ending on a fade out. 5 transitions awfully and 5-6 are just boring, although nicely hell-sounding. 6-8 are much better than the rest and show that the band can be successful with this style. The midtrack on 7 feels like cool black'n'roll. 8 is nice and melodic, quite rich, and has a cool album outro. If it were instrumental, it might be a jam. Overall this is maybe a 3.0

Perfect vibe, even to someone who's not much into folk BM such as me, and perfect runtime rpreventing from boredom. The vocals on front don't bother me much either (on the contraire they rrule)...not as much as these unknown characters used on each track and band's name.

Misthyrming's second album strays from the dissonant kind of bm they had on their debut to go for melodic bm more akin to Mgla's. It's still competent and all, but it just lacks a bit of punch compared to their other two releases.

Energetic and cold black metal that is truly driven by excellent melodic guitar work that is more interesting than your standard black metal fare. Misþyrming are not afraid to get a bit groovy and even anthemic in the fifth track 'Og er haustið líður undir lok'. There are many moments on the album where they deviate from common black metal tropes and this is what will keep you coming back for more spins. On top of that they are still able to write blistering black metal tracks such as the opener 'Orgia'. What keeps this from being a classic are the very repetitive vocals and some of the guitar tones, the high end is unrelentingly muddy and piercing and gets tiresome.
