Used to jam this with mah papacito. Approachable jazz fusion, a real good starter if you wanna dig the genre, mainly because of the smooth and poppy vibe. Jaco Pastorius' fretless bass is FAT, Zawinul's synths are playful, the drums and percussion bring an Afro-Cuban fluidity, and Shorter's sax elevates these funky tunes to banger material. If Bitches Brew intimidates you, start with this one.

Needless to say, the naysayers simply don't know what they're talking about. One of the best fusion albums ever recorded.

Weather Report's biggest problem is that their music is too predictable which is obviously a big no-no in this genre. First track is great but I suppose that's been said once too many nowadays.

One unbelievably good track (Birdland) and two others which are pretty good (A Remark You Wrote, Palladium) on an otherwise passable, but 'meh' album.

Despite how influential it is, this album's pretty bad in reality. Obviously, the musicians are fantastic, but aside from Birdland (which is an excellent tune) most of this stuff is 80s fusion cheese.

Heavy Weather is regarded as a fusion classic but I fail to understand why. Birdland is the only song that I truly enjoy, Teen Town has some funky bass parts, A Remark You Made is soothing, and Havona is a decent track but the rest is either boring or forgettable. Pastorious showcases some nice bass playing and there are some cool parts in certain songs but in the end Heavy Weather is a dull and boring listen.
