Wow, somehow the fanboy hype is correct on this one, if not more so. This is probably the only deathcore-ish album I've bothered to listen to that is worthy of a tag like "amazing" or "definitive." Haters are soon to come, sure, but when don't they? Skip the rest of the shit and take pride with this one: hold it close. Phenomenal work.

In six years, Shadow of Intent have gone from a Halo-themed Melodic/Symphonic Deathcore band rto a monstrous death metal/deathcore powerhouse with some of the most jaw-dropping rdevelopment probably ever seen in deathcore. This album is so refined and clean, yet still runbelievably rich and dense. Ben is definitely more restrained, yet his delivery is the best rhe's ever pulled off by a long shot. Atmosphere so thick it's almost palpable, mesmerizing rproduction, and phenomenal songwriting make this one of the best deathcore releases to ever rcome out, indefinitely, and is also a blueprint for what deathcore is becoming. Deathcore is rarguably in its prime right now, and this band is THE example to follow. Congrats, Shadow of rIntent. You blew my fucking mind with this.

It's rare that a band in such a few short years can manage to perfect the game of musical creativity.rThis album is everything I wanted from the band. Insane vocals, spectacular musicianship, and amazing production. And they once again set a bar for the quality of deathcore music you can make.

I thought the singles were pretty good but not Reclaimer-level, but the rest of the record proved rme wrong. The 10 minute instrumental song is an absolute mind-fuck with how ridiculous it is. rThis is easily, the top deathcore records of the year. r*slow claps*

Melancholy's atmosphere is monstrous and the result is overwhelming. The album is very well tied up, each track is an extra sledgehammer blow and kept me focused and concerned until the end. The story is also striking, so it's certainly not revolutionary and they're not the first to propose this, whether it's for storytelling or musically, but they have made an excellent concept album in the form of a DeathCore symphony.r

Black metal elements are extremely satisfying especially on the track "Underneath A Sullen Moon", and the intro to "Gravesinger". Moreover, clean vocals are tolerable and even enjoyable (considering this is fundamentally a deathcore record", no shortage of sweet solos, and sublime drumming. The best tracks are those mentioned in addition to "Barren and Breathless Macrocosm", "Dirge of the Void", and "Malediction". Overall a fantastic album and AOTY contender.

When they get rid of the symphonics and the singer, it's actually quite good. However, apart from the 10-minute track, it almost never happens. Apart from that, neither tech deathcore nor symphonic metal never were my cup of tea, and this one won't change my mind.

There's a Dimmu Borgir influence that i love
mainly in the vocals - maybe not enough to
exclaim the creation of Dimmucore - but enough
to overlook the tag. Maybe deathcore is not
a dirty word?

This is really good. The singles left me skeptical but the whole record flows really nicely. Seems almost unfair to call these guys deathcore at this point, most of the time this just sounds like a symphonic death metal album.
