5.0 classic | Lucman | April 28th 20 | Power metal has always been hit and miss for me but this album is, to put it in simple terms, next f#!&*ing level. The production is colossal, the ambition is grand, and the riffs.... the riffs are glorious. This is something else.

0.0 | Observer EMERITUS | April 28th 20 | Most likely to be overlooked and downplayed given who this album will appeal to, The Makeshift Conqueror is a plea from an overlooked German band to be recognized and appreciated, especially in these questionable times. Having refined songwriting abilities from the four albums that precede Conqueror up to this, and armed with instrumental technical proficiency many-a-metal-act would be jealous at, Burden of Life rise, and with their 2020 offering in Conqueror, deserve praise and admiration. Come to this if you like progressive melodic death metal at a mid-to-high tempo, and you will will not be disappointed. Strongly recommended.
