4.5 superb | ethicalsinvesting | March 24th 09 | After the underwhelming album of 2004, the Prodigy return to their roots with Invaders must die. Or so they say. Still, the album is reasonably accomplished, with most highs but one very low.
Invaders must die: 8/10
A good start, a thumping beat and guitar work perfectly, while the robotized lyrics and the very high pichted synths round off to make one hell of a song.
Omen: 9/10
An excellent song, desrved to be at the top of the charts for a while. Guitar, synthy space sounds and a creepy gl;ockenspiel make an excellent package, but Maxim's vocals, coupled with flint's, add the magical touch.
Thunder: 9/10
Returning to the old days starts with this song, a half way station between 'poison' and 'outta space'. The Jamaican vocals coupled with light but aggresive guitar add a nice effect, while the bits between the chorus have a very cathcy beat and hip hop vocals. One problem is that this song only has 4 lines of lyrics, repeated over and over again, so can get quite tiring.
Colours: 8/10
No problemwith the song itself, but it doesnt seem to be sure as to if it's a rock song or a hark back to 'Experience'. Th vocals and guitar sound ok at the beggining, but nothing special. The real magic comes in with the synth, adds a mood to the song.
Take me to the Hospital: 7.5/10
A good song, with all the punk vocals and bells, but there is the real sense of the Prodigy in the olden days with this song's chorus. However, it seems totally unrelated to the song, sounds quite annoying and therefore feels a little forced.
Warriors Dance: 8.5/10
A straight rave song, starting with an exotic sound, backed with light guitar and then a punchy female vocalist adds a goo touch. It then moves onto a slightly underwhelming beat, but then plays an unusual sound, followed by the looping vocals.
Run With the wolves: 3/10
An accuired taste- a punk song? Despite some help with the catchy drums and guitar riff, the vocals do nothing to help the song. The final nail in the coffin for this song is the fact L.Howlett seems to be twisting and turning every knob on his synth and recording it as if its a refined piece of music.
Omen Reprise: 8/10
A very short song, but good while it lasts. A more mellow mood than Omen itself, but the sampled vocals from the original song make it a whole new song altogether. Shame its so short.
Worlds on Fire: 7/10
The first part of this song is very exciting- the slightly dated but catchy chanting, the shouting lyrics, the robotized vocal and the guitar make it a good package. It falls down at the chorus, where it sounds far too similar to 'colours'.
Pirhana: 6.5/10
Doesnt seem to be a very serious song, but fun to listen to altogether in a rebellios fashion. Some exotic sounds give it some refinement.
Stand Up: 9/10
Easily one of the best songs on the album, with a wonderful jazzy element to it. followed by high pitched synths and an exciting middle eight.

4.0 excellent | ShadyTwist | June 10th 16 | 2009 was a hell of a year for music (well, except for one and only canadian guy), and this album proves it!

4.0 excellent | Alabaster Jones | September 23rd 15 | Liam Howlett, the mastermind behind British big beat group The Prodigy, had said that their fourth studio album would be a return to their roots, even receiving help from the likes of Dave Grohl and James Rushent on various instruments. That check was most certainly cashed with Invaders Must Die, which takes a big beat blueprint and adds slight bits of new rave to it as well. Some of the groups classics are here, like the title-track, "Omen", "Warriors Dance", and "World's On Fire". However, the albums best moment is actually its most subdued. Closer "Stand Up", a remix of jazz rock band Manfred Mann Chapter Three's "One Way Glass", is an entirely instrumental yet insatiably catchy song that mixes jazz and electronic breakbeat to perfection. In all, a pretty great album from one of the worlds biggest electronic acts.

3.0 good | jkk45 | April 28th 13 | Not a touch on their previous work. However it's still better to see more The Prodigy than no Prodigy. Highlights are Warriors Dance & Invaders must die

4.0 excellent | bobafe6604 | February 17th 10 | Admittedly, I love the Prodigy. "Invaders Must Die" isn't as much as a "return to form" as it is a statement of purpose to the electronic scene. Liam Howlett and crew are not ready to throw in the towel, instead they throw even more tricks into the mix, ultimately creating an arresting but familiar album. A good word to describe this record is 'schizo' as it jumps willy nilly from song to song - often pausing to let us breathe. I am a huge fan of Howletts beats, and although a few border on self-plagiarism, there is enough new awesomeness here to whet my whistle. Buy it.

3.0 good | chezm | April 24th 09 | A decent album that got repetitive. It's fun but only for a few listens...doesn't hold up as long as their other albums.

0.0 | Meatplow | February 24th 09 | In many ways a throwback to the vital, early days of Experience and Music For The Jilted Generation fused with everything they've done since, bolstered with a spanky modern production that makes every song vibrant and bursting with so much energy it is difficult to not get caught up in the proceedings.
However, many of these songs come off merely as quirky club filler, which can make or break the album depending on your tastes. It's almost all repetitive synths and Liam chasing the big beat (breaks are back!), sometimes working together in a moment of pure brilliance but in others gratingly annoying. The vocal samples often sound tacked on as an afterthought, with the exception of the jagged reggae loop of Thunder there is very little that seems quite as fitting as in the early days. I would say some of these parts are unnecessary, and would be better served as instrumentals. But that is just me.
I must praise the jazzy Stand-Up as being absolutely fucking brilliant, and a remarkably different track for The Prodigy. Overall this album has its moments, it's highs are very high but it's lows unfortunately drag it down a lot.

3.5 great | Phantom | February 21st 09 | A definite return to form for the band after the hit and miss "Always Outnumbered, Never Outgunned", mixing their older and newer style to produce an album where every track is instantly a favourite and memorable.
