Richard David James most forgotten album, I Care Because You Do is in my opinion his best. The album features a lot of range but my personal favorites are his more ambient and progressive songs. Alberto Balsalm is a nice, laid-back gem while The Waxen Pithis an eerie yet ambient song. At points the album gets very haunting, Icct Hedral features a pounding beat over scary background effects while Come On You Slags! is a dark, morbid song that is oddly exhilerating. I Care Because You Do offers a ton of variety, I dig the songs with pounding beats and I also enjoy the more suble and lo-key tunes.

To me, very easily Aphex Twin's worse album. It's still great, but I feel like everything that this album does is better in every other Twin records.

at some points Richard is, it seems, creating beauty w/o trying to (the sample-heavy groove of Alberto Balsalm
being the greatest example in my opinion). other times he seems intent on creating the worst track he can put on
vinyl. srsly what sort of mad arrogant manchild would think Come On You Slags! was worth putting on an album?
idg why so many people think everything RDJ does is genius. He is at times awe-inspiring, but so damn
inconsistent that I don't see the point in devoting too much attention to him over more consistent artists like
Autechre or Clark.

Some tracks here are amazing, others are okay, none are bad. Ventolin stands out as being extremely hard on the ears (much unlike the rest of the album) and is actually a good listen for those that can tolerate it. The majority of the album is an interesting mix of acid and ambient music, sometimes with a bit of orchestra style as well

...I Care Because You Do is a good example of an inconsistent album. Whenever I put "Wet Tip Hen Ax" on I'm immediately taken away into a perfect gloomy atmosphere, only to be let down 15 seconds later by a terrible glitchy sound that goes on for the rest of the track. This appears to be the problem with much of the album; several of its tracks have tons of potential but are almost ruined by irritating sounds that make the album seem dated as a whole. Massive shame, since the album also consists some of the best electronic music I've ever heard, in particular the absolutely sublime "Alberto Balsalm".
