First go round with Mr. Rosenstock and really regret not jumping for his records in past years. It is not easy to produce fun music that transports you back to your youth years without sounding on the cheesy side or too juvenile, NO DREAM does that without issue. Not only is it often super energetic and really fun, Jeff manages to weave in political issues and more personal, emotionally driven anecdotes without sacrificing any quality. It feels like if someone asked you what punk is in 2020 this would be an obvious place to point and it also feels like you could play this record for (almost) anyone and they would find something enjoyable in it, impressively approachable for the genre. From the anthemic, hilarious 'Scram' to the longer, more introspective songs like 'Ohio Tpke' and 'State Line' it just shows how capable of a songwriter Rosenstock is. If I had to choose, I would be partial to 'State Line' but there are like five SOTY candidates on here and everything in between is pretty darn solid as well.

Jeff's most energetic and intense album to date (in spite of the colourful happy-go-lucky cover art) is also his least confident. It's not as coherent and easy to enjoy as Worry or We Cool, but thankfully also not as stylistically unbalanced as Post. It's just fun at times, but overstays its welcome and can be a little annoying.

This is the only Rosenstock that spoke to me to this date...great vibe, inventive songwriting, pace changing like hell...speedy tracks/ sections...really feels like an old 90's punk band but fresh at the same time. I love many tracks on here...

Ok yeah, this is cool. Ofc Jeff's vocals aren't exactly beautiful (I guess that would be the point?), but it does bring an energy that can match the riffz (yeah there are cool riffs here). Makes you bop yo head. What I liked the most is how reminiscent of 80s/90s pop punk it is, and yet you're sure this is a 2020 release. We Cool? and Worry. are better tho, though some tracks on this one do not impress me much (*Shania*). Edit: hey it's growing hard.

eff Rosenstock has been making punk music for a long time, and in some circles he is one of the only modern examples of solid punk music that grabs influence from traditional 80s and 90s punk while also being original in his own right. NO DREAM is another stellar example of a solid punk record with the sound he made famous with his 2016 WORRY, but now with more drawn out post-punk influenced ideas. However, he also brings in the sound of 90s and early 2000s skate punk to add a huge soring influence on his very political banter or self-reflecting lyrics. Every song here is a heavy-hitting banger and leaves right when it needs to. The biggest complaint I have is that this album can be very one dimensional if you aren?t ready for it, plus not all the songs are as great as others sonically. Otherwise, it?s a really great album and you should check it out if you are looking for something old, but new.
