I like their fusion quite a lot, but the song-writing mostly leaves a lot to be desired. There's only so much you can carry on atmosphere alone and I feel like the instrumental and melodic work is all Thou, wish Emma's usual subtle crazy shone through as well.

Shhhhhh?I am sleeping; the most boring and derivative atmospheric sludge metal album ever made and adds nothing to the post-metal genre. Honestly, Emma Ruth Rundle should be horrified that they gave her these instrumentals to the singer over.

Heavy and atmospheric sludge with vocal performances done by both ERR and Bryan. The main problem is that, while the atmosphere is nailed here, it does lack some stronger melodies that could have elevated this project on top of the sludge metal chain. It's amazing pummeling stuff, but in terms of Thou material, I've heard better. Gotta jump on ERR's discography.

For such a gnarled, powerhouse sound they have on their own, Thou are ridiculously talented at tempering themselves to the different styles of their collaborators. Emma?s no slouch, and her presence is heavy throughout the sadly short record. Her desert-drone and haunting alto mixed with Thou?s murk shaved to a fine edge...potential AOTY, shoe-in for the top of the list.

This album is an emotional dirge ranging from despair, to failure and anger, finally ending on notes of desperate frustration but somehow at the same time, hope? The fact that all of these feelings are expertly conveyed in just a 38 minute runtime makes the album endlessly listenable. The creative dynamic of Emma and Thou paired with exciting song writing and the perfect amount of grungy 90s influence makes this my most listened to album of 2020 and the perfect emotive embodiment to all the emotions found within this year

Emma Ruth Rundle's powerful and consistently great vocal delivery meets a collection of killer sludge metal riffs. The trading off between the guttural growls and Emma's cleans is just divine and that effect never gets old throughout the entire album. 'Out of Existence' sees a fairly timid clean verse explode into a heavy sludge rhythm and shows off just how good these artists can work together. It is a tight a short song and works wonderfully. 'The Valley' is really where these collaborators find their best groove. The song builds and builds with strings and lead guitars setting the back drop for Ruth Rundle's voice that gains intensity over about 7 minutes before everything resolves in an explosive finish. Two really good artists come together and actually pull it off together bringing out the best in each other.
