I don't remember the last time I gave an album a 5 so quickly, but this is one of the best indie
albums of the last handful of years. This hit some kind of chord with me that I just can't
adequately explain.

Big and boring. Suffocating production and feigned edginess. There's some great songs to be found here but on the whole, I'm not seeing the hype in the slightest.

Wolf Alice, truest to their traits, come through with a mixed bag of mostly decently written hazy pop-rock songs and some underwhelming similarly hazy pop-rock songs. The overall enjoyment then depends on how much one can tolerate the rotation of the decent to not-so-decent cuts.

Surprised at how varied this is. Not only is there the awaited Lana Del Rey explosive vocal outros in a lot of songs, but also, it fucking rocks on certain tracks. I only knew one song from Wolf Alice before, but damn this is really good.

Gotta love 2020s albums that try to sound like 90s' ones. In its gnarliest moments, Blue Weekend is a fierce nod to grunge, and, in its dreamier tracks, recalls how important shoegaze was. Still, notwithstanding the stylistic leaps the band strives to achieve, da album's real MVP is Ellie Roswell. Her vocals, whether drenched in reverberations or reminding the 90s' rock fury, are - almost - always the best thing happening in a song: when the song is already great, it becomes greater; when the song is meh, it becomes passable. In these instances, it's big, but bland. Most of the time, it's big. Edit: I'm a big fkin idiot this is not bland!!!

The first eight tracks on this album have so much potential to be some of the greatest alternative rock and dream pop songs to have been written in 20 plus years. There is a grand sense of building and detail to be had with each of these eight tracks that its hard not to bob your head along and tap your foot. Although the 90?s influence is rich, it feels like a great celebration of what that era of music brought to rock music. With that being said, however, the last three tracks (?The Last Man On Earth?, ?No Hard Feelings?, and ?The Beach II?) are concrete sounds and examples of why that 90?s sound completely killed itself in the early 2000?s. They are completely boring with a huge lack of coherence and direction that the rest of the album has. I honestly have never been so disappointed when the first 8 songs are high quality and the last three songs leaving me thinking ?WTF happened with this; who let this happen?. Completely derails the listening experience and reminds me why Wolf Alice will always be a huge band with a lot of following but never finish an album well since each of their three records now has this issue.
