With obvious nods to Tyler's 2000s heroes (DOOM, Madlib & Dilla) but with a Californian easiness, and lyrical depth, this should have been a winner. The thing is, all tracks are nice and all, but memorability ain't their primary feature. That's because Call Me If You Get Lost sounds like a playlist made of "Tyler type beats". He clearly enjoyed himself there, but I prefer when he tries to accomplish a specific artistic vision as he did with his previous two outputs; this one feels a tad too messy in that regard.

One of the things I like about Tyler's music is that it's very on line with its generation, Tyler has always been one to hide his thoughts through characters, and this feels like him at his most Tyler, at his most transparent. The feelings of feeling lost make this record the most relatable Tyler record, especially with the pandemic going on. It has flaws, it's a little all over the place and inconsistent, but the highs are high. Tyler comes back once again with his unique production and style that only he can do. And it's great.

Cherry Bomb if it wasn't fucking trash. People will rate this a 5 because of the hype and because 2021 has been a terrible year for hip hop. But I don't know what this album wants to be and its simply unsatisfying compared to IGOR or even WOLF.

Although the new Tyler the Creator album is far from perfect, it is an exquisite showing of what you should do once you have worked so hard to finally get to the top. CMIYGL is honestly a victory lap album for Tyler. All the work and hardship he has had and gone through to achieve the level of statis he has accumulated has finally paid off. On the opening track ?SIR BAUDELAIRE? we are shown the braggadocios nature that this album will carry through the rest of the album and it's well deserved. Some of the biggest bangers of Tyler?s career show up on this album: ?WUSYANAME?, ?HOT WIND BLOWS?, ?MANIFESTO?, ?JUGGERNAUT?, and ?LUMBERJACK?. However, there are still songs on here that feel extremely out of place ?SWEET/I THOUGHT YOU WANTED TO DANCE?, ?BLESSED?, and especially ?WILSHIRE? (some of the worst production I have heard in a while, it?s unliftable if you have any kind of quality headphones). Still a really great album with so much greatest (especially the first half).

Tyler, the Creator brings a similar vibe and energy he had on his excellent last record, IGOR; but also gives it a more accessible feel while not being tied down by any genre of sounds. This is what makes Tyler so unique as an artist and this album showcases that brilliantly.
