Surprisingly fun. Suffers quite a bit from bloat however. If the skits and filler were cut and the best 40-45 minutes of material were left this could easily be a 4+

I'll eat my words and say that this much better than I expected it to be. It's pretty well rounded, lots of solid tracks, dare I say some of Beyonce's best work to date. Definitely bloated but love the features on here and love the flow of the record.

Lots of great stuff on here and as always I trust her vision... still may change this rating rbut initial impression is like she almost didn't trust the audience enough to be able to r"get" it and had to do a lot more "telling" than Renaissance or Lemonade did. Last third or rso of the album is stellar though.

I?ve honestly never been a fan of hers except for Crazy in Love. This is much better than I was expecting honestly. It?s also barely country, but still better than about 95% of country. But it?s more bluesy and soulful than country. But it?s still better than anything else she has put out.

?Look at me, I have 20 writers, 50 producers, and other musicians to perform on album. The album is me taking a shit on country music. I am sure the hive will eat it up. They are a bunch of retarded idiots with no understanding of pop culture.?rPoint proven. Can?t critique this overrated shrill without being accused of having a superiority complex. I guess I need to go back to drinking some chai and listening to my Emperor records while my black cat claws my legs off.

Bloated not-so-country R&B-pop record that still manages to be somewhat fun when it doesn't cover blatantly rip-off classics or let oldies take a third of the soundtrack with their interludes. Turns out these interludes help pace the record, and the songs that carry the most country elements are the ones that shine thanks to the lush production (thank god the production is good) and the smooth harmonies. The last third especially shines because it solely focuses on what the record actually sold us: good country music. yeehaw

Beyoncé has been riding a creative wave lately. Her 2016 album, ?Lemonade,? marked a peak with its intricate blend of R&B, neo-soul, and pop aesthetics. Then came her 2022 dance-pop marvel, ?Renaissance,? where she delved into the various hues of house music, infusing them with her stunning R&B vocals. Now, we are presented with her latest endeavor, ?Cowboy Carter,? an album where Beyoncé ventures into her dream genres of country and country-pop. ?Cowboy Carter? emerges as the album she has always aspired to create, brimming with a vast array of ideas across its extensive runtime of over an hour and fifteen minutes. Here, listeners are treated to a rich tapestry of sounds, from classic stomp-and-holler country and contemporary country to a fusion of country-pop with R&B styles. Intriguingly, the album closes with fusions of bro-country with house and garage music?a blend we might not have realized we needed, yet it?s fascinating to witness. However, this brings me to the album's primary drawback: its length. ?Cowboy Carter? feels overly extended, with some ideas that might have been better left unreleased. The entire last 30 minutes, in particular, could have been omitted without loss. Moreover, certain features?such as the unexpected Post Malone collaboration?don't particularly enhance the album. Despite these criticisms, it?s clear that ?Cowboy Carter? is a passion project for Beyoncé, showcasing her having fun and experimenting with her craft. It's a testament to her versatility and creative spirit, even if it sometimes meanders a bit too far.

this is about as country as your favourite derpcore is death metal ie the thinnest slapstick veneer, but nevertheless having actual instrumental backings instead of banal rnb beats and hearing her really belt her voice make this easily the best beyonce album, if only she had always done cowgirl. miley cyrus sounds like a 50 yo pack a day since she was 12
