3.0 good | Trey STAFF | November 14th 24 | No steps forward, two steps back. Oceans of Slumber were just starting to perfect their own unique sound while also finally making the best use out of their powerful vocalist, Camimie. Instead of continuing that progress, it feels like they've regressed somewhere back around "Aetherial" and "Winter". Extreme metal tangents with no compositional reason, no real hooks, no powerful melodies, no unique sound, and most damning, music that generally speaking just doesn't compliment Cammie the way the last two releases (and parts of "The Banished Heart" too) did. This should have been their break out release, but instead it's dragged them back to square one with too many death metal vocal sections, too many random bursts of speed, and too few elements that made the last few albums so damn unique.

3.0 good | Gene Gol CONTRIBUTOR | September 19th 24 | Uncharacteristically, new Oceans of Slumber album feels not like a journey, but like a single quick (as quick as nearly an hour of material can be) affair, no epic journeying in sight.
