Despite being such a young band (all of the members where under 18. Vitek was only 15) Decapited managed to release a very solid debut. The weakest point on the album is Sauron's vocal dynamics, they don't display enough variability.

this is a great and fun album and the technicality and songwriting are extremely impressive for such a young band but i somehow don't feel a 4.5 for this today.

Way weaker than I remembered it being. Instrumentation is obviously amazing. Fantastic drumming from Vitek, polyrhythms etc. from hell and fantastic groovy playing from Vogg with mad and melodic solos. The issues come in so to speak no variation and pretty oof production. Still great.

Really this is just about as classic as death metal gets and the fact that it was made by 16 year olds only pumps it up more. It is brutal yet not mindlessly. Their are little intricacies that kind of weave there way through (especially those drums.)

Sometimes you can gauge an album's quality by the first 30 seconds that your hear. For me, Winds of Creation was an instant favorite as soon as the intro riff kicked in and the entire album just gets better from there. I have yet to hear tighter death metal riffs; everything is so coherent and the production is superb. The Eye of Horus might also be one of the best death metal songs of all time and it was written/performed by teenagers!

A great death metal debut by Decapitated and their heaviest album. The vocals could be better but who cares? The drumming and the guitar riffs are excellent and the album kicks ass from start to end. All the songs are fantastic but my favorites are the title track, "The first damned", "Way to salvation", "The eye of Horus" and "Nine steps"....

Decapitated's debut album is excellent death metal. They have an original sound that does
not sound like a lot of generic death metal. Every element of the album was excellent. Now
some could think that it was weak for them to do a Slayer cover of "Mandatory Suicide" as
their final song but it was quite good, it did not subtract from the album in my opinion.
