This is fucking amazing. So catchy, and undeniably rock and roll with a perfect blend of a range of genres. Black metal, Classic rock, hardcore. 3 Unlikely genres to be mixed, but it works amazingly. Every song is unique, repetition is minimal, and song structures are never cliche. There are so many elements thrown in, but are all used sparsely and sparingly, which I love. For example: Blast beats, gang vocals, guitar solos, dissonance, odd time signatures, panned guitar licks, anthemic choruses and interesting chords and harmonies. This album just has so much colour and character, and is just so incredibly accessible for any rock, punk or metal fan. Who would've thought that an album with harsh black metal styled vocals could be catchy and fun. This is modern rock and roll at its best. An instant classic.

One of the most fun fun fun, brainless, wicked and brutal record of the decade. If you fuse black metal, hardcore punk and some whack'n'woll riffiness, you possibly got a landmark record. It shook waves in 2010, but, unlike Alcest's Ecailles, it didn't create a whole subgenre. Maybe in a parallel universe black'n'roll became a parody of itself, but in our timeline, it remains Kvelertak's prerogative, and this is the record where they do it best. An anomaly in the black metal sphere (because it's fun and cool, and while we all love bm, it's neither cool nor fun) that will be remembered for how effortlessly it throws bangers after bangers.

The boys from Norway have honestly shocked me with their debut. Kvelertak's blend from hardcore and black metal is not only unique but it works like a charm. No song feels like a filler, it's extremely accessible but it has meat for the hardcore/BM veterans to sink their teeth in. Album of the year 2010 for me, hands down.

The most fun I've had with a black metal(?) record in a long time. Almost like listening to blackened party rock anthems. Maybe a little repetitive on occasion, but the album is a tasteful length, does not overstay its welcome.

This album has given me hope for not only the hardcore punk genre as a whole and future released of this band, but for music as a whole. This album is incredible from song to song. It's catchy, intense, and energetic. Easily my favorite album of 2010.rI recommend this album to any human being with ears.
