Illuminate's little sister, Assailants captures an ultimate aftermath of breaking up. Consistent in it's inconsistency, it calmly walks you trough the whole story, shows you every imperfection not only in the relationship, but in the band at that time. It may lack Illuminate's brilliancy, but it's really close musically and sonically and, in all honesty, it's an excellent farewell.

'This December..' will always hit as the high point for me having been with them from the very beginning, and 'Illuminate' was pretty good, but this is littered with filler and so many alternate effects that it completely detracts from their signature sound on previous albums. It's not horrible by any means, and I can see the direction they took, however it just doesn't add up in the end. I'll see them off on their last tour and hopefully we will see some surprising material from each individual member (knowing Mindy is in 'States') in the future.

Assailants sorely lacks flow and feels cut too short. However, it's a worthy addition to have if you are a fan of Illuminate.
