I stand by the claim that Thursday's sound is temperamental, for in the wrong context, as evidenced by A City By the Light Divided, several things spoil. Geoff Rickley's vocals can sound like contrived whines if the music doesn't support it. The music stumbles on its electronic sections, and when simplified, as it is on City, the band's sound is not entertaining, as it is when you're able to search for the progressive, ambient, and, yes, the electronic nuances. Everything on City is so straightforward and mediocre that it doesn't warrant much more attention than a first listen.
