*sigh* This should have been a classic. The line up of The Raconteurs was an Indie kid's wet dream. White Stripes mainman Jack White playing along side cult Pop Rock guru Brendan Benson and Detroit Rockers The Greenhornes filling up the rhythm section gap - what could have gone wrong? Well um, alot of things to be honest. 'Broken Boy Soldiers' fails to match up to any of the dizzy heights it's first single 'Steady As She Goes' promises. The album is chock full of filler. From diet Led Zepplin ('Broken Boy Soldiers', 'Level'), under produced Acoustic Pop ('Yellow Sun'), Coffee table ballads ('Together','Call It A Day')
to disposable Pop ('Hands'). When you look at the band's line up and the possibilities that 'Broken Boy Soldiers' could have delivered, it's just not good enough.
My advice? Save your money for the next White Stripes record

Fav Tracks: Broken Boy Soldier, Level, Store Bought Bones. Rock tracks are great, but I found the more poppy tracks boring.

Talk about supergroup. I was getting a little tired of the new White Stripes direction, with all the non-blues stuff. But this was such a breath of fresh air for Jack White. I think this is some stuff he had been wanting to write and just needed a different medium than the duo to pull it off. The album rocks from beginning to end. No bad songs on it.

Awesome new band, awesome new album. Jack White proves that he is indeed a musical genious and expands his horizons performing a somewhat new sound to promote his new band "The Raconteurs". It's difficult to find any faults or low points on the album, its just a matter of songs becoming stale a tad too quickly. Hopefully we'll see a lot more from The Raconteurs.

First of all, these guys rock. I coulldn't believe it when the White Stripes broke up but was instantly revived when I heard the Steady As She Goes single. Ever since I heard that single I registered for the Raconteurs email list at theracoteurs.com. I had been counting the days since the release of the album they were so good. I was a bit dissapointed when I heard Store Bought Bones but Level, Hands, and Steady As She Goes go way beyond making up for it. The rest of the songs on the album are good, but those three are more than excellent. I would definitly buy the album whenever you get the chance.
