Alice In Chains Ranked!

Another band I feel very strongly about
7Alice in Chains
Rainier Fog

A few fantastic tracks, but kind of forgettable sadly. It’s not bad though for sure. The One You Know is one of the band’s best tracks hands down, and it definitely got me hyped for the album. Was sadly let down a bit.
6Alice in Chains
The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here

Surprisingly great. Not a masterpiece or anywhere near the band’s best, it’s more of the same and maybe a bit too long.
5Alice in Chains
Facelift

Kind of underrated. A lot more energetic, but still packs a hell of a punch.
4Alice in Chains
Jar of Flies

A somber and memorable release that’s as unforgettable as the band’s full length releases.
3Alice in Chains
Black Gives Way to Blue

The idea of recording an album without Layne seemed kind of pointless, yet this album is fantastic and proved the band was still capable and as good as before. An excellent homage and a near perfect album.
2Alice in Chains
Dirt

Easily the greatest grunge album to come out of Seattle. This is tonally the grunge equivalent of Nine Inch Nails’ The Downward Spiral. It’s dark and agonizing in the most masterful way. Yet it’s not my favorite so it’s not my #1, sorry.

Alice in Chains

Yes. It doesn’t sound as suffocating and miserable as Dirt. But this album is incredible. I’ve always preferred it over Dirt because it has this filthy, sedated atmosphere to it. A surprising amount of variety here too, which I suppose can make the album feel less cohesive as a whole, but it never bothered me much, and I’ll ALWAYS choose to listen to this over their other stuff if I have the chance.
