4.0 excellent
Alice in Chains Facelift
Autopsy Severed Survival
Black Flag My War
Cream Disraeli Gears
It may be a bit spotty, with clunkers like Take it Back and Mother's Lament clogging up the tracklist, but there is some wonderful psychedelic rock to be found here. Tales of Brave Ulysses in particular I find to be the standout track, one of the heaviest songs ever. Essential listening.
Creedence Clearwater Revival Creedence Clearwater Revival
Death Scream Bloody Gore
The birth of death metal? Perhaps. A quality album? Definitely.

Led Zeppelin Led Zeppelin III
Led Zeppelin Led Zeppelin
The debut of the (not quite) best rock band of all time. It's a great showcase of the explosive energy that the group possessed, and also of their ruthless plagiarism (basically the whole album consists of uncredited covers). It's one of the stronger debuts in rock nonetheless.
Led Zeppelin Led Zeppelin IV
I'm not as crazy about this album as most people seem to be, but it is a classic album nonetheless. Solid songs throughout, no real complaints.

Stone Temple Pilots Core
The debut of the altogether underrated Stone Temple Pilots. This album is chock-full of classics like Plush, Dead and Bloated, Sex Type Thing and Wicked Garden. You really can't go wrong with this.
Stone Temple Pilots Purple
Possibly the best STP album, this album sees the band distancing themselves somewhat from the grunge style of its predecessor, Core, in favour for something more unique and varied. The result is an airtight tracklist of classic rockers, each with distinct motifs. Great album.
Talking Heads Talking Heads: 77
Television Marquee Moon
Testament The New Order
The Beatles Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band
The Residents Duck Stab
The Residents The Third Reich 'n Roll
The Residents Fingerprince
The Residents The Ghost of Hope

3.5 great
Foo Fighters Foo Fighters
It's a bit bloated, but It gives us some of the definite high points of the band's (disappointing) career.
Foo Fighters Wasting Light
One of the few Foo Fighters releases that I can get behind. It's just a quality modern rock album, nothing more.
Gorillaz Gorillaz
Very hit-and-miss, but the good stuff on this is just phenomenal, better than anything they went on to put out later down the line.
Melvins Tres Cabrones
A decent effort, though it's nothing too new or interesting. Songs like Doctor Mule and City Dump rock though.
Melvins Basses Loaded
One of their best recent efforts for sure. It's consistently good throughout the entirety of the album.
Radiohead The Bends
Most of the album holds up really well, but a handful of the tracks are painfully dated alt rock. As a result The Bends is not excellent from beginning to end, but the majority of what's on here is fantastic, and a hint of things to come with their groundbreaking followup.
Rage Against the Machine Evil Empire
Rage Against the Machine Rage Against the Machine
The Kinks Face to Face
Uncle Acid and The Deadbeats Blood Lust
A nice throwback album, trying to recreate the occult mystique of bands of the seventies like Black Sabbath and Blue Öyster Cult. It's nowhere near as good as its inspirations though, with tracks ending up sounding way too similar to eachother and feeling redundant altogether. There are a couple of absolute jams on here however, like Cut You Down, Curse in the Trees and Ritual Knife.
Voivod War and Pain
A raw and sloppy album though it may be, that's part of the charm with this one. It's Mot?rhead worship with a demented twist, solid stuff (for the most part).

3.0 good
Alice in Chains The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here
It's not even close to gracing any of the Laney-era's high-resting works, and it is too long for its own good, but it's got some decent if disposable tracks. The production is godawful.
Screaming Trees Clairvoyance
It offers up some nice slabs of neo-psychedelia reminiscent of the mid-sixties, though it is pretty hit-or-miss.
Voivod RRRĂ–Ă–Ă–AAARRR
It's alright for what it is. It has some left-field ideas that distinguishes it from the rest of the thrash scene at the time, but the production is so watery and obscure that I find it hard to actually sit down and listen to this and enjoy it in the process.

2.5 average
MC5 Back In The USA
Subpar collection of rockers. Mostly weak songwriting and lacking the punch of their live album, Kick Out the Jams.
Queens of the Stone Age Era Vulgaris
I gave it a fair chance, and I have concluded that it is a bit of a mess. There are some strong ideas on this one, but most of the songs lack cohesion, feeling like they were pieced together haphazardly from dissonant ideas. Their follow-up would rectify this slight misstep in their discography, however.
Radiohead The King of Limbs
A really disappointing album from an otherwise excellent band. Most of the material on here is devoid of any dynamics or emotion. Feels more like blueprints for potential songs than actual finished songs. Here's hoping that the Live From the Basement version can breathe some life into it.
