Black Sabbath Paranoid
Bob Dylan Bringing It All Back Home
Boris Akuma no Uta
Can Tago Mago
Can Ege Bamyasi
Charles Mingus The Black Saint and the Sinner Lady
Charles Mingus Mingus Ah Um
Claude Debussy Suite bergamasque, L. 75
Converge You Fail Me
Converge Jane Doe
Even with the feverish aggression and the rhythmic complexities, this album and Converge in general has something that a lot of metal bands strive for but don't achieve; emotional potency without needless melodrama.
Converge Axe to Fall
Converge All We Love We Leave Behind
Converge You Fail Me Redux
David Bowie The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars
Dead Kennedys Fresh Fruit for Rotting Vegetables
Deafheaven Sunbather
Death Grips The Money Store
Electric Wizard Dopethrone
Elliott Smith Elliott Smith
Four Tet Rounds
The organic textures, beautiful melodies, and catchy grooves are all legitimate reasons to not give IDM the pretentious reputation it has earned.
Frank Zappa Hot Rats
Fugazi The Argument
A fantastic swan-song-type album that successfully engrains the legacy of Fugazi as the first post-hardcore band that mattered.
Fugazi In on the Kill Taker
The rock-solid tracklist, constant experimentation, fantastic songwriting, and powerful performances make this one of the most immediate and amazing post-hardcore albums ever.
Fugazi 13 Songs
Out of the ashes of Minor Threat and Rites of Spring, comes a whole new different beast and in most cases, I'd say this would be just a prelude for things to come; but they had talent oozing from them from the beginning.
Fugazi Repeater
Fugazi Red Medicine
Fugazi Fugazi
Gang of Four Entertainment!
Giles Corey Giles Corey
Glenn Branca The Ascension
GZA Liquid Swords
One of the more popular Wu-Tang Clan solo releases, and with the GZA's effortlessly cool delivery and wordplay; this is one of the best ones.
Iceage Seek Shelter
Although Vendetta still erks me a little bit after some listens, this has gotten better and better as time goes by since its initial release. Iceage has fully realized the potential of their newfound strengths to create one of the most emotional and solid albums of the year; and probably the year's best.
Igor Stravinsky Le Sacre du Printemps
Interpol Turn on the Bright Lights
Joy Division Closer
Joy Division Unknown Pleasures
Kanye West My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy
Although sometimes bloated in some song's running times, MBDTF is still a supremely produced and realized hip-hop album that transcends Kanye's ego (even if it indulges in it).
King Crimson In the Court of the Crimson King
LCD Soundsystem Sound of Silver
Madvillain Madvillainy
I think it's important to remember the good things about the past without needless melodrama, and that happens a lot with music. But after some weeks I listened to Madvillainy again to remember how DOOM operated as a rapper, with the help of Madlib, and the conclusion is the same: endlessly original, funny, witty, and even mind-bending; years after its initial release.
Magnolia Electric Co Magnolia Electric Co
It's difficult to convey the sheer sadness of Magnolia Electric Co. It's sometimes heartbreakingly beautiful and sometimes absolutely devastating and emotionally exhausting. Which is why I love it. Thank you, Jason, for creating such a thing.
Mahavishnu Orchestra The Inner Mounting Flame
Miles Davis Jack Johnson
My favorite Miles Davis album shows just how little I personally connect with Jazz. But the performances, musicianship, concept, and musical theory are all there to bring a fantastic jazz-fusion gem.
Minor Threat Complete Discography
Minor Threat Out of Step
Minor Threat Minor Threat
Minutemen Double Nickels on the Dime
Honestly... Can you think of anything as original, funny, and perfect as Minutemen's magnum opus? Yeah? Fuck you, you can't.
Misfits Static Age
If the Misfits took themselves as seriously as some of their contemporaries at the time, this would've been an awful, nostalgia-fueled trip to 50's surf-rock and rockabilly; packed with testosterone-fueled punk and horror cliches. Thank god they didn't.
Mobb Deep The Infamous
A dark, immaculately produced, and essential hour and 6 minutes for any hip-hop fan to listen to.
Modest Mouse The Lonesome Crowded West
Nas Illmatic
The dark, moody, and down-to-earth production of Illmatic alone is worthy of praise. But it also happens to have some of the most urgent, intelligent, and fascinating story-telling in a hip-hop album (or at least the most iconic).
Neutral Milk Hotel In the Aeroplane Over the Sea
The classic indie-rock darling of the '90s is praised once again, whatever. But there's a reason for that. The emotional impact and lyrically obtuse nature of In the Aeroplane have remained intact since its initial release and it'll probably remain like that for years to come.
New Order Power, Corruption and Lies
Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds The Boatman's Call
Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds Ghosteen
NoMeansNo Wrong
Gruff-and-tough, meat-and-potatoes post-hardcore done to a tee. From the technical ability to its aggressive performances, NoMeansNo easily shines from the rest of the fodder with personality and cynicism.
NoMeansNo Why Do They Call Me Mr. Happy?
I forgot how fun it is to listen to NoMeansNo albums. Some traditional hardcore punk fans may be a little disappointed with the long song-times and bells and whistles. But as a fan of the band, this can be considered their musical and artistic peak.
OutKast Stankonia
Philip Glass Glassworks
Philip Glass Koyaanisqatsi
With every passing day that I listen to this, the strengths and special moments of this soundtrack become more and more potent to me. Hypnotic minimalism at its very best, and even more entrancing once you see the film itself.
Philip Glass Mishima: A Life in Four Chapters (soundtrack)
Pink Floyd The Dark Side of the Moon
Pink Floyd Animals
Pink Floyd Wish You Were Here
Pink Floyd Meddle
Pixies Surfer Rosa
Protomartyr The Agent Intellect
The dejectedness of the vocals, intriguing lyricism, and emotional performances make The Agent of Intellect one of those comfort releases that get me out of a bad day, whether it's the deeply sad Ellen and Pontiac 87, or the sinister Why Does It Shake?; Protomartyr has released one of the most emotionally potent rock albums of the 2010s.
Queens of the Stone Age Songs for the Deaf
Bombastic, dark, catchy, and supremely written all around. Songs for the Deaf (and QOTSA in general) summits itself as one of the most important and fantastic events in rock music in the 2000s.
Queens of the Stone Age Rated R
Queens of the Stone Age ...Like Clockwork
Radiohead The Bends
Although too inconsequential and traditional for some, I find this just as memorable, classic, and beautiful as Radiohead's other work.
Radiohead Kid A
A fantastic left turn in music, which just gets better and better with age.
Radiohead OK Computer
From the very first time I heard this, I can't help but feel an incredible feeling of existential angst every time I listen to this. It effortlessly combines ambitious forward-thinking production and songwriting, with a topical edge that still persists today.
Radiohead In Rainbows
A perfect starting point for people just getting into Radiohead and a consistently beautiful album.
Radiohead A Moon Shaped Pool
Rage Against the Machine Rage Against the Machine
For better or for worse, an incredible influence on the nu-metal scene that the late 90s would be dominated by. But, certainly, one (if not the) best and most tolerable rap-rock release that the scene had to offer.
Richard Hell and The Voidoids Blank Generation
Sex Pistols Never Mind the Bollocks, Here's the Sex Pistols
Aged? A little. Crass? Definitely. But this 40-minute brigade of 3-chord structures and yelling became one of the cornerstones of counter-culture in general; poking at the sacred cows of the establishment with cynicism and ageless irreverence.
Siouxsie and the Banshees Juju
Sleater-Kinney The Woods
Sonic Youth Daydream Nation
Soundgarden Superunknown
A solid and heavy dose of Seattle-fueled grunge, with enough technical ability to make the average drummer drool. But most of all, it's varied, cohesive, and emotional when it needs to be.
Talking Heads Remain in Light
Talking Heads More Songs About Buildings and Food
Television Marquee Moon
Marquee Moon was released in the midst of the punk scene's full force. But it feels like this is a natural maturity from that. It's ambitious, technical and so... New York.
The Chemical Brothers Dig Your Own Hole
The Doors Strange Days
The Doors The Doors
One of the most impressive debuts in music history ever. The Doors had talent, attitude, passion, and creativity from the beginning of their careers; which is shown consistently throughout this tracklist and their future projects.
The Doors Morrison Hotel
The Fall This Nation's Saving Grace
The Jimi Hendrix Experience Electric Ladyland
The Jimi Hendrix Experience Are You Experienced
Incredibly essential. You can almost hear the influence of songs like Purple Haze, Foxey Lady, and Fire on the essentials of rock music and heavy metal that would dominate the 70s.
The Stooges Fun House
Fundamental for the creation of punk-rock and incredibly acclaimed after the initial release of the album? I had pretty loft expectations, and it surpassed them with flying colors.
The Stooges Raw Power
The Strokes Is This It
The Velvet Underground The Velvet Underground & Nico
The Velvet Underground Loaded
It's almost kind of unbelievable, Lou Reed and Co. are able to say goodbye with a surprisingly optimistic and beautiful sendoff to one of the best rock bands in the 60s.
The Velvet Underground The Velvet Underground
Unwound Leaves Turn Inside You
I don't think I can successfully communicate the sheer level of bliss I feel when listening to this. The kind of emotional response that exceeds the trappings of post-hardcore into something truly special and complex.
Viktor Vaughn Vaudeville Villain
Void Void
Wire Pink Flag
Solid post-punk/punk-rock, with great performances and a sharp as hell personality oozing through every track. Not much to say.
Wire Chairs Missing
Wu-Tang Clan Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers)

Aesop Rock The Impossible Kid
Amon Duul II Yeti
Aphex Twin Richard D. James Album
Arcade Fire Funeral
Arcade Fire The Suburbs
Bauhaus The Sky's Gone Out
Beastie Boys Paul's Boutique
In a near-perfect sophomore album, Beastie Boys prove you can make an impressive artistic statement, without taking yourself seriously.
Beastie Boys Ill Communication
Big Star Radio City
Billy Woods Aethiopes
Binary Star Masters of the Universe
Birds in Row Gris Klein
Bjork Homogenic
Black Sabbath Black Sabbath
Bloc Party Silent Alarm
I have some slight bias when it comes to alternative rock bands of the 2000s that I discovered later in my teenage years, which helped me grow in secondary school. Silent Alarm's themes of alienation, responsibility, and anxiety in the modern era; still get me and move me in ways I really can't fully explain.
Boards of Canada Music Has the Right to Children
Bob Dylan Highway 61 Revisited
Bob Dylan Desire
Bonnie 'Prince' Billy I See a Darkness
Boris Boris At Last -Feedbacker-
Boris Heavy Rocks
The chug-chug riffs of some of these songs may be a bit too much for some, but the aggression, passion, and cohesion make this a great starting point to Boris (even if it isn't that representative of their discography).
Botch We Are the Romans
Brand New The Devil and God Are Raging Inside Me
Brand New Science Fiction

Cannibal Ox The Cold Vein

clipping. There Existed an Addiction to Blood
It's filled to the brim with cheesy and ridiculous violence that has been a major factor in clipping's discography, but the level of lyrical proficiency, flow, and production make it especially replayable.
Company Flow Funcrusher Plus
Converge The Dusk in Us
Converge Bloodmoon: I
Although Blood Moon is a slightly inappropriate closer compared to its predecessor ('Crimson Stone'). Converge, Chelsea and Brodsky, pull off one of the most immediate and accessible albums of their respective careers, as well as their most emotional and melodic experiment yet.
Dalek Absence
Danny Brown Atrocity Exhibition
Daughters You Won't Get What You Want
David Bowie Station to Station
David Bowie Blackstar
Dead Kennedys Plastic Surgery Disasters
Deafheaven Ordinary Corrupt Human Love
If you aren't a fan of the somewhat controversial sound of Deafheaven, this isn't for you. But, if you're open to it, you'll find constant emotional gut-punches paired with their Americanized-black-metal style and classic rock staples.
Death Grips Exmilitary
Deftones White Pony
DJ Shadow Endtroducing.....
Drive Like Jehu Yank Crime
Edan Beauty and the Beat
Kind of a strange combination between Madlib production, Electric Ladyland-era Jimi Hendrix psychedelia, and 90's era hardcore hip-hop lyricism; and a fantastic one at that.
Electric Wizard Come My Fanatics...
Elliott Smith Either/Or
Fela Kuti Gentleman
FKA Twigs Magdalene
Freddie Gibbs and Madlib Bandana
Fugazi End Hits
Fugazi Margin Walker
Future of the Left Travels With Myself And Another

Gang of Four Solid Gold

Ghostface Killah Fishscale
Girls Against Boys Venus Luxure No. 1 Baby
Godspeed You! Black Emperor Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antennas to Heaven
At worst, Lift Your Skinny Fists... can be extremely self-indulgent and pretentious, but at best; it's ambitious and greater than life itself. It doesn't have the same emotional impact and consistency (in my opinion) as F#A#.., but worth a listen nonetheless.
Godspeed You! Black Emperor F♯ A♯ ∞
Grinderman Grinderman
Hermit and the Recluse Orpheus vs. The Sirens
Honningbarna Animorphs
Iceage New Brigade
Iceage Beyondless
Maturing and recognizing the strengths of their new sound, Iceage make another fantastic album with natural talent and style.
IDLES Brutalism
IDLES are a band that we needed today. They help revitalize a dying rock scene, with a socio-political edge and sheer aggression that makes it an essential listen.
Iggy Pop Lust For Life

Jason Molina Let Me Go, Let Me Go, Let Me Go
Joy Division Love Will Tear Us Apart

Kendrick Lamar DAMN.
King Crimson Red
King Crimson Larks' Tongues in Aspic

LCD Soundsystem This Is Happening
Led Zeppelin Led Zeppelin
Although it doesn't have the classy and pristine mixing that their future record would have, the songwriting prowess, passion, solid tracklist, and attitude make it my favorite Zeppelin release ever.
Les Savy Fav The Cat and the Cobra
Les Savy Fav Let's Stay Friends
Les Savy Fav Inches
Lightning Bolt Hypermagic Mountain
Royal Blood should learn a thing or two about these guys.
Liquid Liquid Optimo
Little Simz Sometimes I Might Be Introvert
Due to its pacing, Little Simz's endless charisma, and willingness to explore personal issues, this album has become an immediate sign for the bright future of Little Simz as one of the most important artists today.
Loma Prieta I.V.
Loma Prieta Last
Lou Reed Transformer
Low Things We Lost in the Fire
Massive Attack Mezzanine
Mastodon Leviathan
Mastodon Crack the Skye
After several listens, Mastodon has crafted one of the most immediate and ambitious albums in the mainstream metal scene. Showing technical prowess, catchiness, and restless performances. These giant musical pieces show a possible musical peak for the band.

Nirvana Nevermind
No Trend Teen Love [12"]
No Trend Too Many Humans
NoMeansNo 0 + 2 = 1
NoMeansNo All Roads Lead to Ausfahrt
NoMeansNo entertains, captivates, and impresses us with this extremely solid, albeit safe, goodbye. The technical ability, humor, and songwriting are just as strong as ever: helping the band create one of the most appropriate send-offs for a band (and a highlight in their career).
Ought More Than Any Other Day
OutKast Aquemini
Pavement Slanted and Enchanted
Pearl Jam Ten
Even after its nearly 30-year age, Ten by Pearl Jam still has the urgency that's essential for all great rock albums, elevating the reverb-drowned mixing into a classic grunge staple.
Pearl Jam Vitalogy
Philip Glass Mad Rush
Pig Destroyer Prowler in the Yard
Like a lot of grindcore, the shock-value and aggression make this a very meat-and-potatoes release; but I really can't complain.
Pig Destroyer Terrifyer
PJ Harvey To Bring You My Love
PJ Harvey Stories From The City, Stories From The Sea

R.E.M. Automatic for the People
It's one of those surprisingly immediate listens, where I fall for an album from a band that I underestimated from their reputation.
R.E.M. Document
Radiohead Hail to the Thief
Aside from certain not-so-original ideas peppered throughout the tracklist, this release still executes the art-rock fundamentals with passion and cohesion.

Sly and The Family Stone Stand!

Techno Animal The Brotherhood of the Bomb
The 13th Floor Elevators The Psychedelic Sounds of the 13th Floor Elevators
The Beatles Rubber Soul
The Beatles Abbey Road
The Chameleons Script of the Bridge
The Clash London Calling
Some people call it a cheap sell-out, and they're wrong. The Clash sold out when they released Combat Rock; this is still part of a winning streak of releases
The Clash Give 'Em Enough Rope
The Clash The Clash
Although some may consider the choruses of these songs as no more than cheap sloganeering, I can't help but fall in love with this album's attitude, and performances.
The Damned Damned Damned Damned
The Dillinger Escape Plan Ire Works
The Dismemberment Plan Change
The Dismemberment Plan matures and improves the formulas that they originally worked in since the beginning, with a more emotional and complex sophomore than their previous release.
The Doors L.A. Woman
The Hives Veni Vidi Vicious

The Jesus Lizard Liar

Probably my favorite Stripes album. The playful guitar-playing and blues-rock modernity just seems better produced, performed and written than ever before
The White Stripes De Stijl
This Heat Deceit
Thom Yorke Suspiria
Thom Yorke Anima
For some people, this is the first time that the solo work of a band member, reaches the same level of quality as their other work. And I hope there's more to come for us.
Tool Lateralus
UNKLE Psyence Fiction
Unwound Repetition
Wilco Yankee Hotel Foxtrot
Wormrot Hiss
Young Fathers White Men Are Black Men Too
Although the sonic appeal of this album is there, it's the vocals that get me. Some of my favorite voices in modern music today.
Young Fathers Cocoa Sugar
An equally catchy and emotional follow-up to an exceptional sophomore album.
Young Fathers Heavy Heavy
Yves Tumor Heaven To A Tortured Mind
Although it doesn't have the variety and excentricities of Safe in the Hands of Love, I think it compensates by doing a beaten-to-death-pop-formula with justice, style, and most of all, personality.

Aesop Rock Bazooka Tooth

Coldplay A Rush of Blood to the Head
Coldplay is a band that has fallen to a depth very few bands have seen. But ignoring their current output: I can say that the best spots of this album, showcase the initial strengths the band had at their prime.
Coldplay Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends
Sadly, the last good album the band offered in their career. From the impressive arrangements, mixing, and still some solid songwriting that made the band interesting in the first place; Viva La Vida proves to be a solid (albeit concerning) precursor to their future sound.
Converge No Heroes
The pristine and legendary Kurt Ballou production is in full display here, elevating the dynamism of the songwriting and bombastic performances into the most aggressive and restless Converge release so far.
Crass Christ: The Album
Cult of Luna The Long Road North
Danny Brown uknowhatimsayin¿
Danny Brown gives a solid tracklist of '90s-inspired East Coast hip-hop with his trademark lyricism and style, although robbing it from the experimentation that Atrocity Exhibition had.

Deafheaven New Bermuda
Death Grips No Love Deep Web
The darkest Death Grips project and that's saying a lot. With the artificial, yet vivid production and iconic delivery of Ride; it's just a smidge away from being perfect.
Death Grips Bottomless Pit
Death Grips Year of the Snitch
Deftones Around the Fur
Deftones Diamond Eyes
Deftones Ohms
Deftones return with a vengeance, on this incredibly solid and ambitious release after Koi No Yokan, making one of their best albums and one of the better modern rock albums.

Father John Misty I Love You, Honeybear
Fiona Apple Fetch the Bolt Cutters

The bare-bones approach to mixing and production leads John Frusciante to depend on his songwriting abilities. And although this may be controversial, this leads to material that's infinitely more enjoyable and captivating than his time in RHCP.
John Frusciante Curtains
I can think of very few things that can sadden people, like music. I've heard a lot of depressing stuff over the years and sometimes I've forgotten it. But... What a beautiful, painful, and heartbreakingly perfect example this album is, as a portrayal of sadness.

Although not as fresh and exciting as RTJ2, it's still a solid, aggressive, and sadly topical look at the state of things right now. But, it has its own fun moments and it only proves that they're one of the most exciting things that hip-hop has to offer today.

SOUL GLO Diaspora Problems

Spoon Kill the Moonlight
Spoon Lucifer on the Sofa

A rock band under the Warp label? I'm sorry, but this was bound to be an amazing release. Even if there are some tracks that don't reach the heights that the band is striving for; this Kid A and Gang of Four type sound feels otherwordly to listen to.
Steve Reich Music for 18 Musicians
Suicide Suicide
Supreme NTM Supreme NTM
Although some signature tracks like Ma Benz don't necessarily stick with me as much as I thought they would. NTM proudly and loudly punches you in the face with its aggressive lyricism and pristine East-Coast-inspired 90s production.

The best release of the Saturation trilogy and their best album by far. It has the production value, the likable as hell personalities (for the most part), catchy flows, and quotable lyricism. But it has its duds and the appearance of Merlyn in some tracks test my patience.
Brockhampton Roadrunner: New Light, New Machine
Even though the middle part of the album has some of the weakest songs of Brockhampton's career, I'll be damned if this album didn't have some of the most emotional and essential batch of songs the group has released thus far.

I'm getting a bit worried here. Don't get me wrong, I like this. It's as ferocious, cynical, and even likable as we've come to expect from IDLES. But it's a drum that's been beaten before, and some ideas are starting to get stale; especially the shockingly upfront lyrics.

I haven't listened to this in a while, but I do have a photographic-like memory of every riff, bridge, drum fill, and chorus of this thing since I listened to it a bunch of times when it was initially released. Although it has lost A LOT of its core appeals as time went on for me, I can't say these catchy riffs and muscular drum grooves are anything but inoffensive QOTSA worship; mixed with hard-rock revivalism.

The Dave Brubeck Quartet Time Out
The Jesus Lizard Head
The Mothers of Invention Freak Out!
The O'Jays Back Stabbers
A popular and fun albeit tiresome listen. The galloping and propulsive rhythm sections that add so much color and vibrancy to these songs were more of a privilege than a normal occurrence in this album (particularly the first track as the main standout). But apart from a couple of songs, I don't think there'll be any significant replay value for this album.
The Raincoats The Raincoats
The Rolling Stones Exile on Main St.
The Rolling Stones Sticky Fingers
The Roots Things Fall Apart

Although it has grown on me since I first listened to it, this is just a bare-and-bones version of the electrifying and emotional rollercoasters to come.
The White Stripes White Blood Cells
The Zombies Odessey and Oracle
Travis Scott Rodeo
A guilty pleasure to say the least, but the decent singles and ambitious production keep it from feeling like a dime-a-dozen hip hop album with overblown features. But the lyricism is forgettable at best and terrible at worst, a pretty big problem in a genre that prides itself on lyricism.

Like everyone else, I love me some Radiohead; but I can't help but feel like this album won't have that much relevance after the year's over. It seems like Ed had some pretty average ideas for rock standards, put them in an album, and executed them with above-average mixing and production.
FACS Still Life In Decay
Frank Ocean Blonde
Even with the extensive list of collaborators, and some emotional moments; I think I ran out of enjoyment for a lot of the material of this thing. I still appreciate it, but it's initial emotional potency just doesn't hit as hard as it once used to.

After some careful listening sessions, I can sadly not get into Porter Robinson's (and the year's) electronic critical darling. The saccharine-like nature of some of the melodies is beautifully mixed, but it just doesn't stick after several listens. Although this may be people's soundtrack for a new begining, to me its songs have hardly left any impact.
Radiohead Pablo Honey
Even though I find Pablo Honey quite mediocre, I think the amount of shit it gets can be quite excessive sometimes. Maybe it's because of the greatness to come, but I still find things to like about it.

Sufjan Stevens Illinois

The Cure Disintegration
The gothic post-punk of Disintegration should've been a hit with me, but sadly I can't get into it. It felt to dragged out for its own good, with some of the extensive run times of these songs; I expected something with much more substance.

Tyler, the Creator Goblin
Although Tyler's performances throughout the album are impassioned and urgent, the production and mixing leave a lot to be desired from this batch of emotionally insecure tracks.

I have all the respect in the world for all of the musicians involved. Chris Cornell was one of the best voices in rock music. Period. Plus, all of Tom and Co. seem to give it their all, but they don't have the songwriting, imagination, or memorability that their other projects have. Especially the incoherent and sometimes cliched lyricism.

Brockhampton SATURATION
The release that started it all and frankly not my favorite. Although it has it's memorable moments and great tracks, the melodrama of some of the tracks rivals that of a TV soap opera, which is made worse with some sub-par flows and lyricism casually being thrown at the wall by anyone who isn't Dom or Ameer (yep, that bad).

I tried, I honestly tried. The serene vocal inflection seems lazy, the hazy soundscapes sound muddled, and when an album depends this much on textures, I can't help but feel bored.
Queens of the Stone Age Villains
The first disappointment I had with QOTSA. The gutless production and mixing, paired with songwriting that needed better treatment, just shows that this could've been a better album; even with the occasional duds.

Silk Sonic An Evening with Silk Sonic
The Enemy (UK) We'll Live And Die In These Towns

The Killers Hot Fuss
The Killers Battle Born
The Microphones The Glow Pt. 2
To a certain degree, I understand. The lyrical themes, the comforting and warm mixing, the ambitious instrumentation, etc. But I can't help but be lost in all of these bells and whistles, leaving me dry and disappointed by the end of the album. I get the appeal, but the emotional impact of The Glow Pt. 2 is almost null.

1.5 very poor
blink-182 Take Off Your Pants And Jacket
Sometimes an obnoxious gross-out-humor cringe-fest, other times a saccharine portrayal of teen angst. The attitude and writing of Blink-182 have aged like milk if you compare it to the greater landscape of music in the 2000s.

Chance the Rapper The Big Day
I never was much of a fan of Chance the Rapper. Something that I was afraid would affect my views of this album, but now I'm glad people hate something just as much as I do. It's a well-intentioned, but confusing and embarrassing attempt at celebrating an important moment in Chance's life (his marriage). This may be the worst way he could've done that.

After several listens and reading through the reviews of the apparent "genius" of this album, I have concluded that Daft Punk should stick to just playing the remixes of these songs live.

Metallica Death Magnetic

The Cure Pornography
Even with the fog-machine-like darkness of this album and depressive tendencies, The Cure still fails to me at proving their status as a band.
Tyler, the Creator Cherry Bomb
The poor mixing in this new-found sound for Tyler fails to communicate the bombast and explosiveness of the album, and more a tired attempt to experiment and try something new.

Muse The 2nd Law
Muse isn't a band I particularly like that much, yet they tend to disappoint me several times. And with the dubstep-inspired tracks, paired along with the usual arena-rock melodrama; this just isn't gonna cut it for me.
The Enemy (UK) Streets In The Sky
Although the debut had some enjoyable songs, the only redeeming value that this album has is to point and laugh at it with a grin from ear to ear; (sadly) being a pretty good argument for why rock should stay dead.
