oh god how does this album get more relatable the older I get. damn shame this wound up as kurt's last album with the band but no place wears it's heart on it's sleeve and wears it like a sweater crafted out of depression from a bad childhood.

Secret Band Secret Band
"Secret Band's" first full length effort is an experience. From the killer riffage from the very reliable Will Swan, to
the blaring drumming from Matt Mingus, to Jon Mess's nonsensical lyricism and consistent howling. While far
from being consistent, and Jon Mess as a musician is somewhat of an acquired taste, "Secret Band" is a strange
beast that deserves to be listened to for all who know what they're getting themselves into.

Around the Fur showcases a band who are starting to realize their true potential. While still rholding on to the nu-metal sound they helped create, Deftones add so much more to, distinguishing rthemselves from the other groups. Featuring improved songwriting and a glimpse at their eventual ratmospheric sound, Around the Fur is an early highlight of a band that's full of them.

Deftones Adrenaline
Despite being a key album in the infamous "nu-metal" sub-genre that annoyed the ears of many in the late 90's to early 2000's, Deftones humble debut "Adrenaline" still demands to be heard. Featuring a raw and rather angry sound, in addition to Chino's fitting rap-like vocal style. However as it IS the bands first release, Adrenaline sounds rather underdeveloped at times. An overall solid beginning for a group that's going to end up being so much more.
Deftones Gore
"once upon a time, in the piece of shit land called Sacramento 4 stoned teenagers accidentally created Nu-Metal but then jumped from that ship once Limp Bizkit happened (even though Korn was a thing before that). They still made good music and they made another music that is good. Chiggy Biggy Mo-Iggy please love me!!!! 8/10"

New Found Glory Nothing Gold Can Stay
Yes, this album has really subpar production. And Yes, this album can be downright immature, but there's something about New Found Glory's first album that I can't help but enjoy. While the production is still iffy, it also gives "Nothing Gold Can Stay" a nice raw vibe to it; plus this is just a catchy as hell record. A fine start to a band that ended up being poster boys for their genre.

The Mars Volta The Bedlam in Goliath
To call The Mars Volta a bad group would honestly be very much a lie, as there is no denying that every member involved is immensely talented; with that in mind "Bedlam in Goliath" is a progressive and aggressive, while also being pretty exhausting to listen to in one sitting.

Once you're able to get passed the seeming bait and switch Billy and Co. pulled with lead single "Ava Adore's" brooding Gothic sound, one can find a solid soft and dark album that's very fitting for a long drive at night.

Green Day American Idiot
Green Day completely sell their souls with American Idiot, and lose any genuine angst they might have had in the past in the process. Every song on this album comes off as overly whiny (any single released off this record) or just forced altogether, especially the political messages Green Day attempted to cram into this mess of an album.
