60's Rock and Psychedelic List of Kicks and Digs
Happy April Fool's Day sputnik! I went on a 60's (and earlier) bender recently and it was very wholesome and cleansing lol. Kick your shoes off and jam some of these you haven't heard. Comment below with what you think this list smells like. Most of these are brand new listens so even though it's not really ranked it's assorted with the newest stuff for me at the top, but some oldies but goodies are sprinkled in like angel dust throughout. |
1 | | Kaleidoscope (UK) Tangerine Dream

2 | | Soft Machine The Soft Machine

5 | | Kaleidoscope (UK) Faintly Blowing

4.5
Probably my favorite all around record on this list. Highly recommended if you want to give one of these a shot. |
6 | | Fairfield Parlour From Home to Home
I'm sort of cheating with this one because it's 1970, but it's the same band as Kaleidoscope but they changed their name. I'm putting it with dis list because it's gonna be a while til I get through the 70's and it will likely get lost in the shuffle. It's also a really good album.

21 | | Grace Slick & The Great Society Grace Slick & The Great Society
1971/1968 (recorded live I believe?) but released later.
The slowed down 'Somebody to Love' doesn't seem to work as well as that awesome fucking classic tempo by Airplane, but the 2 minute intro to 'White Rabbit' definitely does once the song breaks in. Overall I thought it was some ok tunes and Grace's voice for once wasn't underutilized. I have yet to hear Starship outside of a few songs and the "first" album however.

28 | | The Tornadoes Bustin' Surfboards
An absolutely awesome surf rock record. The version I heard had two bonus tracks, the last of which 'Beyond the Surf' is an amazing instrumental. Honestly such a vibe, feels great like a cool breeze rushing in to float the album away. Actually gonna make me look a little more into the genre, but just a little to dip my toes in.

Need a second, more comprehensive listen to this- because I really disliked it, but I heard an expanded edition with like a whole second record of bonus tracks and that part sounded tight. |
