Rec me DM

Been a big fan of Melodeath for a while now, but always found DM itself more distant. Never really clicked with any deep gutterals, particularly slower and drawn out in style (probably never gonna be a doom death fan!), but really looking to make inroads into the genre this time. Please help me!!
1Archspire
Relentless Mutation

These guys are the reason I want to make death metal stick this time, this and Bleed The Future have been on constant play the last few weeks. Love the vocal style generally, and Dark Horizontal in particular is Godlike.
2Death
Symbolic

The main problem I have is not that I don't like dm, but albums that I feel like I should love end up being... just good. This is a prime example, it definitely rocks, but I just rarely feel like going back to it.
3Horrendous
Ontological Mysterium

...Same with this. Reading up on it I want to love it, but having heard it through I often pick the odd track out before moving on.
4Job For A Cowboy
Moon Healer

Another one that feels like I should really love, although it is now growing on me more. Another coupla spins and it could be big!
5Dark Tranquillity
Fiction

Most of the Gothenburg Guys never hit me hard. Slaughter of the Soul feels weak, In Flames weary (even the Jester Race) and Soilwork bore me.These guys were my first proper melodeath dig, and while The Gallery is undeniably classic Fiction is what really hits hard. The whole thing works wonderfully from track to track, and I still spin regularly
6Nekrogoblikon
Stench

Prob my favourite out and out melodeath album, always feels like is in everyone else's shadow. Prince of the Land of Stench is one of my favourite tracks ever.
