Artists Without Buzz
Just a list of a few albums from some artists/musicians that I don't really see a lot of here on Sputnik, but that people should definitely check out. |
1 | | Arovane Tides
Incredibly relaxing, ultra-chill electronica, not to mention the implementation of the always awesome harpsichord. |
2 | | The Bad Plus Give
For those who are into Jazz. |
3 | | Belong October Language
One of the more beautiful and memorable ambient-electronic albums I have in my library. |
4 | | Defacto Megaton Shotblast
Omar + Cedric + Ikey = really mellow reggae |
5 | | Hammock Raising Your Voice... Trying to Stop an Echo
One of the most overlooked post rock releases in the past year or so. |
6 | | Marsen Jules Les Fleurs
Because everything I have heard from him is always vibrant and gorgeous, though I enjoy this album particularly. |
7 | | The Mercury Program A Data Learn the Language
Probably one of the albums I've listened to the least but definitely some worthwhile post rock for those who are into the genre. |
8 | | Mice Parade Ramda
Some more post rock with a percussionist as the creative force behind it all, some interesting stuff certainly worth listening to. |
9 | | Neon Blonde Chandeliers in the Savannah
For those who like the Blood Brothers (and even those who don't know them), it's Johnny Whitney and Mark Gajadhar's side project. Way less intensified than the Blood Brothers, and somewhat bizarre, but in a pleasant way. |
10 | | Oxes Oxxxes
Two guitars, one drummer, mathy fun. |
11 | | Port Royal Flares
While it's more keyboard oriented, this is probably my first ever experience with any kind of post rock. I picked this album up randomly a couple years back when doing some listening for my school's radio station and it just blew me away. |
12 | | The Samuel Jackson Five Easily Misunderstood
If not for the name alone, these guys are one of my favorite post rock bands I've heard. |
13 | | Stars of the Lid The Tired Sounds of Stars of the Lid
Sleepy, dreamy ambient-electronic music (kind of like the album name implies). Some really good stuff though, even if it does sort of lull you into a trance. |
14 | | Swod Gehen
Piano-centered, almost minimalist approach consisting of two people combining electronic and live instrumentation. Very cool and expressive. |
15 | | Tim Hecker Mirages
Because its really hard to ignore something that is regarded as "an ambient-death-metal classic in the making." Seriously though, an incredibly intense ambient record. |
16 | | Zozobra Harmonic Tremors
Basically because metalheads need to listen to something other than shredtastic, riff-heavy clones. For anyone who's a fan of (especially early) Cave In. |
