05.10.14 | Probably should've included TOOL too. Legit Hated them at first. Learnt to love them over time. |

05.10.14 | Qotsa |
insanedrexl1
05.10.14 | It took a really long time for me to enjoy None So Vile and I hated it at first. Now it's my favorite death metal album. |
RadioSuicide
05.10.14 | Mr. Bungle, especially Disco Volante |
sblevins95
05.10.14 | Jane Doe in a nutshell |
TylerLamberg
05.10.14 | Agreed on Dirt, Of Malice And The Magnum Heart was an instant click for me
Outside of that, Where Blood And Fire Bring Rest was a definite grower for me |
StinkyPinky
05.10.14 | Yeah but I've gotta admit Jane Doe still hasn't grown on me all that much, I'll have to give it a couple more listens |
Snowdog808
05.10.14 | I would say Rush, King Crimson, and Pink Floyd are examples of bands that I love that took a few listens in order to reach that point. |
Pheromone
05.10.14 | "Hence the reason why 99% of rthe shit on the radio is comprised of simple yet catchy beats and hooks rwhich you can instantly get into but will grow sick of after about 10 rlistens (ignoring the fact that most of it is just terrible music"
ugh shut the fuck up |

05.10.14 | Them Crooked Vultures. |
StinkyPinky
05.10.14 | Pheromone, whats wrong with that comment mate?
Its a well known fact that most pop artists are advised by their record labels to produce short, catchy songs that the radio stations will be able to play the shit out of so that within 2 weeks everyone's sick of hearing it and they can cycle through to the next big hit- the artist getting a shit load of money through royalties and becoming a sensation, and the station stays relevant and popular because they only plays the most popular songs.
The way I see it, pop artists and radio stations are 5% concerned with making quality music and 95% concerned about their popularity, making quick bucks, staying relevant etc. |

Totally agree. |

05.10.14 | yeah bro it just pisses me off how a few of my friends 'favorite songs' change depending on what the radio plays that week. I try and tell them that they're fucking sheep letting the radio decide the music they listen to, but idk maybe they just don't have a passion for music like we do...maybe i just need new friends. |
dmp3131
05.10.14 | Circa Survive would probably be my number one. Turned from almost an annoyance to one of my favorite bands. I didn't like Anthony Green's voice at all at first, but it definitely grew on me after a while.
I'd also say probably say Soundgarden and Opeth. |
GuanoBumbershoot
05.10.14 | despite slight differences in era, shit on the radio has always been that way. Just listen to your classic rock station and get basted in a wave of awesome dadrock. College stations tend to play decent shit too. |
RogueNine
05.10.14 | Rosetta |

05.10.14 | Yeah but you cant always escape it man. I've got to put up with mainstream radio stations 8 hrs a day at work, I've tried bringing in my ipod and playing some of the more radio friendly stuff i have but a customer complained (i work in a retail store) and the manager got pretty pissed off at me. It was some old bitch who told the manager 'It feels like im stuck in a death metal moshpit' because Blackened by Metallica was playing. So thanks to that slut I've got to put up with the likes of Kesha, Nicki Minaj etc. |

Yo La Tengo - I can hear the heart beating as one
Wilco - Yankee Hotel Foxtrot
Pixies - Surfer Rosa |
NakedSnake
05.10.14 | Deafheaven- Sunbather
The combination of post-rock and black metal intrigued me, and I found it interesting, but not entirely enjoyable, at least at first. Then, one by one the tracks began to click. It's a legitimately great album in my opinion, though flawed. |

05.10.14 | "they're fucking sheep letting the radio decide the music they listen to, but idk maybe they just don't have a passion for music like we do"
gotta remember that people who genuinely like music beyond listening to the latest tunes on the radio and owning a few greatest hits CDs is quite a small percentage, and a lot of people dont even bother at all, especially the over 25's |
Pheromone
05.10.14 | As well as that, who cares? If a mate of mine would take Arctic Monkeys over some obscure Swedish post-punk band then good for him. |
RadioSuicide
05.10.14 | Swans hard. |
Necrotica
05.10.14 | Meshuggah, some certain Death albums ( I already liked the others), Jeff Buckley, many Rush albums |
Necrotica
05.10.14 | Oh, and Fleetwood Mac |
Clumseee
05.10.14 | Brand New.
And thank god they did. |
menawati
05.10.14 | "many Rush albums"
yea maybe things like Signals and Hold Your Fire, but a lot of them are instant wow albums that dont need to grow much at all, especially their classic period |
HeavyMetalSnail
05.10.14 | Slint and Between the Buried and Me.
Hell, it took a while for post-rock and death metal as genres to grow on me. |
JustinKing
05.10.14 | Only band that ever had to grow on me was Deftones. Heard Hexagram way forever ago and wasn't into it. Then I heard tracks like Root, Be Quiet and Drive (Far Away), and Knife Prty, and I gave them a second listen, and they've been one of my absolute favorites for years. |
apokolypz
05.10.14 | deftones, love them now |
Shuyin
05.10.14 | mouth of the architect and cult of lulu
always saw them as weird bands, and i used to feel the need to give the few songs i knew a listen every now and then. and when i started enjoying their music, holy shit, forget about everything |
StinkyPinky
05.11.14 | Pheromone, no fat neckbeard here brah.
