| Bands That Slayed At Scion Rock Fest
Actually got in due to shitty security. | 1 | | Trash Talk Plagues
I've seen them several times before, but this was still fun. Latest vocalist is kind of shitty though. | 2 | | Salome
Never heard this band before until this. Female-fronted black/doom metal. BM screeches were kvlt as shit. | 3 | | Alestorm Captain Morgan's Revenge
I stopped by for this just for laughs but it actually ended up being ridiculously fun. | 4 | | Boris Rainbow
Without a doubt the best act that I saw the entire day. Started off with two fun straight up psych rock songs, then "Rainbow," and then ended it with some epic droner that I hadn't heard before. It was unbelievable. | 5 | | Pig Destroyer Phantom Limb
Not as great as I thought it would be, but still good. The mixing was kind of retarded and the samples were just really gay but it still brought the mosh. | 6 | | Krallice Krallice
One of the bands that I wanted to see most for whatever reason. The band was tight as hell and they ended on Energy Chasms. Enuff said. | 7 | | Wolves in the Throne Room Two Hunters
Came on right after Krallice and fucking slayed. I had to leave toward the end of their set to catch Neurosis though. | 8 | | Neurosis Given To The Rising
Excellent as always, but it was kind of hard for me to enjoy it as I had not had anything to eat or drink for 10 hours and had been standing for the entire duration of the fest. I felt like I was going to faint to say the least. | 9 | | Mastodon Leviathan
After some leftover Moe's tofu burritos that tasted like ass, I saw Mastodon. Played most of the classics and a little bit of the new stuff. I'll be seeing them again in a few weeks here in Birmingham. | 10 | | Cryptopsy The Unspoken King
Shouldn't really be on this list, because this was probably the worst/most hilarious thing I've ever seen. Everyone was just kind of standing around shitting themselves in confusion over how awful it was, like they hadn't listened to anything the band has done in the past decade. | |

03.01.09 | Uhh....... can't belive I couldnt make it to this concert. 10 would have been quite entertaining. Also, new Wolves album slays hard, did they play anything off Black Cascade? | Doppelganger
03.01.09 | @ SoH: No, I missed Evil Army in the time that my friend and I weren't allowed in. We had to run in the entrance with a large crowd after like an hour of moping around outside. I wish I had seen them, though.
@Balls: They pretty much just played Two Hunters in its entirety. | EyesWideShut
03.01.09 | sounds like the best concert in a LONG time man. Shit did you miss converge, and baroness too ? | Doppelganger
03.01.09 | A lot of awesome bands were playing overlapping schedules so I had to make hard decisions. I decided to see WitTR over Converge because I've seen Converge before and I just missed Baroness : | Doppelganger
