Best Of 2012

the very best records of 2012
1The Menzingers
On The Impossible Past

Simply nothing moved me like this did. The lyrics, the song structures, the passion
behind it all floored me, and I found myself listening to the entire album on repeat
time after time, personal favorites coming and going every few weeks. This album
really hits me. Having been released in February, I Think it certainly has stood the
test of time in order for it to be called my AOTY of 2012.

2The Gaslight Anthem
Handwritten

My favorite band. Yep, I said it. They can do no wrong in my eyes. And then they
come up with 'Mae', a track that leaves me breathless every time I hear it pass by
through my headphones. Exceptional band, exceptional record, as always.
3Run, Forever
Settling

One of the most underrated punk releases of the year. An very short album full of
life-anthems.

4Curbside
The Sound I Know

Skatepunk record of the year. That's all.
5fun.
Some Nights

Yeah, it's a pop album. But it's so damn catchy, so clever and so addictive. All
Allright is the perfect example of how a pop-song should be. And Stars is one of my
favorite songs of the year, never thought I could appreciate auto-tunes as much
as I do within this song. And We Are Young is definitely the weakest track.
6No Trigger
Tycoon

Again, perfect punk rock record that has to be played lout during the summer
months.
7Motion City Soundtrack
Go

We know they can write a good pop-punk song (Everything is allright) but with this
album, they add a little experimentation to the table. Songs Like Everyone Will Die &
Happy Anniversary are some of their darkest songs ever written by the band. The
rest of the record sound like a MCS album should sound like. Unique band.
8Sharks
No Gods

If The Gaslight Anthem were influenced by The Clash instead of Springsteen, they
would sound like this. I get a huge nostalgic feeling from their music and their lyrics,
and their riffs are intense.
