| Top 5 May Albums + 5 Albums I Found From Sputnik
I just joined Sputnik a couple of weeks ago, but I've been wanting to start writing about music for months now. I took my first stab on 4 albums from this month, The Antlers, Wild Beasts, Manchester Orchestra and Fleet Foxes on my blog. It's not a conventional review, but rather a review comparing the albums by category. It's pretty long (4500 words) but I'm happy with most of it. Excuse the self-promotion but I only have about 10 friends that read my blog, and they all listen to, well, not what I consider good music. To anyone that actually takes the time to read the whole thing I greatly, greatly appreciate it. Eventually, I plan to start writing some normal reviews for Sputnik. Thanks for any feedback...and I guess can't you post links in here, so if you're interested copy and paste the link in Burst Apart to read my comparison review. | 1 | | The Antlers Burst Apart

05.28.11 | I'll give it a read since this list is awesome | AliW1993
05.28.11 | I wouldn't really say that this qualifies as a review, but it was an interesting read nevertheless. I especiallu agree with what you said about Simple Math's lyrics not really hitting home at times. | GamemakerPW
05.28.11 | Yeah, I agree it's not really a review. I'm not real sure what to call it though, maybe just my opinion and thoughts on which is better, or something. But thanks for reading it, at the very least it was fun to write. | StrangerofSorts
05.28.11 | I love the idea you have there, it was a good read too. Can't say I agree with the verdict though, I haven't gotten round to the Fleet Foxes yet but the Manchester Orchestra and The Antlers albums were crushingly disappointing when considering their previous work.
Everything to Nothing for MO was better emotionally and lyrically
"So I prayed for what I thought were angels, ended up being ambulances"
Hospice for TA... man you don't know the meaning of emotional until you listen to that beauty.
Smother seems to be Wild Beasts coming to fruition and is more satisfying for it. But eh, what do I know, right? | GamemakerPW
05.28.11 | Thank you! Honestly, I probably let some of the emotion from Hospice carry over to Burst Apart and gave it an advantage over the others. But as I said at the start I am completely subjective. I was disappointed Wild Beasts didn't beat out Manchester Orchestra though. | iSkane
05.28.11 | 3, 4, 6, and 7 are all super sweet. I'm proud to say I found Gaslight before I found Sputnik. Woot. |
