Why I Am Abandoning Sputnik Forever

I used to be a heavy user of the sputnik review and forum website. I am a big fan of metal, Alt/indie, and Hip Hop. I learned a ton from this website about music and I used to be on here everyday (with a different username...). I have been off it and I wanted to get back into things here, start writing review again and I loved reading them. Since I've been back, I've realized that this website is very specific in the music people talk about and there is no variety. Everything is about the "new" scene, and people are way to focused on such a small scale of music, they are missing out on so much wonderful music. Based on this, my current and final list is about why I am abandoning this website based on its current state. I hope people will realized the center of this website and broaden their musical taste. I realize this website is targeted at a certain audience, but it is incredible how you can literally label the typical person on this website.
1Lack of Blues

The blues are one of the most emotional genres in music. yet is still under appreciated here at sputnik.
2Country is laughed at

Country music is a incredible genre and influenced hundreds of the artist praised on this website (iron & wine, Decemberists,

4Too much Metal

I love metal. I love listening to it when I'm extremely excited or relieved and in a great mood. But, musically, there is little musicianship. Don't call me judgemental, I play 5 instruments and have learned metal on all of them (slayer was my favorite band growing up), and I respect the talent in the musicians in metal bands, but there is no improv, no variety, and little creativity (with exceptions of course, like BTBAM...). There is a ton of emotion, but the screaming and heavy texture does not always represent emotion.
5Miles Davis

Being a huge jazz fan, its amazing seeing the lack of reviews, but also reading the awfully terrible reviews of miles davis. Have some education about what jazz i about and what it represents before you review a jazz album, because its like no other genre.
6Jazz

Jazz is a dieing genre, I understand that, but its not dead. People like sonny rollins, coltrane, Miles, Herbie, just to name a few, are not talked about. I know they are in the past and the entertainment is in new and upcoming artist, but this music is too good to be ignored.
7Pointless conversations

I used to love going through the comments and read the opinions of other people of the album, but it seems like people are getting too social here. Stop talking to each other about you screen name, avatar, and personal life and start talking about the music at hand. Its a waste of everyones time reading about what you think of someones avatar. It didn't used to be this way. I used to read long arguments about the music, and I loved it.
8Too much competition

People are trying to come out with the bold opinion about music and its really not their true opinion of the album. They say they like norah jones because they have herd she is a mazing musician, but never given her music a chance. Speak your opinion, not what makes you "cool".
9Not enough true musicians

Musicians are clearly absent at this forum. I'm not talking about the kid who picks up a guitar and learn every metallica song (like I once did). I'm talking about the people who live and breathe music. The people who can't explain why they love a song so much, it just touches their heart. The people who like a artist just because of the instrument he/she plays and their ability to play it. Its not about speed in music (as metal fans presume), its about emotion, and heart. Keyboards players are not piano players, its a completely different instrument. Most of the beloved bands on sputnik are not musicians themselves.
10Too many stupid lists

I'm am contributing to the flaw at sputnik here, but I wanted to give my parting words.
