| frozencarl dude Oak, Ash and Thorn is SICK. going to be listening to that one for a while for sure. In Vain is prob their best since Aenigma. need to check out Loch Vostok.the new Veriteras and Sarcasm albums are pretty good, both just came out this past Friday
| frozencarl you oughta check out Desparity - the Incessant. just reviewed it. if you remember that Rotting Kingdom album I wrote about a while back its similar in that its melodic death/doom but this one leans into the melodeath portion very hard.
| Beardog Hell yeah brother, heard Anthriel first a real while back but I kinda forgot about them
| frozencarl I've spun the new Xoth 4 times yesterday, its like if Scar Symmetry wrote the Singularity in the 90s. so good
| frozencarl https://www.sputnikmusic.com/soundoff.php?albumid=460757 think you'd like this album, really solid insomnium-y melodeath that feels fresh enough
| frozencarl hey man, new Aetherian album dropped today. pretty solid melodeath and a huge step up from their previous stuff. you'll like it!
| frozencarl this I am your god album is awesome. the band name is pretty tacky but man, that is some solid melodeath. good rec.
| frozencarl yo nice! what a pleasant surprise that Ivar returned. btw--just finished listening to the new Fires in the Distance and boy does it deliver
| frozencarl right on, glad you enjoyed it :] did you stay for Enslaved at all?
| frozencarl hey dude, did you end up seeing Insomnium?
| frozencarl Hmm, its a co-headlining tour meaning they've apparently been switching off. When I saw them Insomnium went first. They played a slightly shorter set as a result but that let us leave about 3/4 of the way through Enslaved's set. it wasnt bad by any means, I'd definitely stay and watch some of it if Insomnium ends up playing first at your date
| frozencarl dude, you gotta check out this band called Thamnos, I still need to add em to the database here. their new singles from this year are what grabbed me but theres a full-length from 2020 called Isle of Hollow Souls that goes pretty hard. folky/proggy melodeath. you'll like it!
| frozencarl listened to The Island on the way back from work this evening. pretty fun listen, really dig the title track. wild how this band and Dissentient have such insane production and technicality with barely any listeners.
| frozencarl started listening to that Dissentient album on the train into work this morning, loving what I'm hearing so far. definitely write something up for it! I've been giving my writing chops a much needed refresher, hoping to review a bit more regularly around here
| frozencarl hey man how've you been? any reviews in the pipeline? maybe that new Aesmah if it ever comes out :D
| frozencarl yo saw you've listened to Tungsten before. wrote a quickie for their most recent which you should check out!! https://www.sputnikmusic.com/review/85876/Tungsten-SWE-Bliss/
| DePlazz https://www.sputnikmusic.com/review/85336/Soreption-Jord/
| Muzz79 Hey Dmax, how good is Neurotic Machinery m//
| frozencarl awesome rec man, really digging this. reminds me of that American melodeath era with Conducting from the Grave and Himsa which is honestly one of my favorite flavors of the genre
| frozencarl this Omnivortex album looks super promising, I'll give it a spin. I've listened to that Aeolian album like 4 times now, its definitely shaping up to be the best melodeath album this year, just over Aesmah (i had to double check that that came out this year, feels like it came out eons ago)
| frozencarl hey man long time no talk! you check out the new Aeolian album? reallyyy solid melodic death metal to rival that aesmah album
| MarsKid Solid stuff bud, but unremarkable on the whole I feel. Appreciate the share though! Been having a hard time finding worthwhile tech this year.
| frozencarl dude, nice rec. so much awesomeness packed into that 30 min run time. kinda reminded me of enfold darkness at times
| MarsKid Bookmarked it, I shall take a look!
| frozencarl yea man, the melodic elements are sick. hahah its not much of a service on my part, im just unmotivated as **** cuz of all online classes. figured id procrastinate by working on my writing. glad you dig it though :D
| frozencarl https://www.sputnikmusic.com/review/81148/Rotting-Kingdom-A-Deeper-Shade-of-Sorrow/ you might dig this, doomy death metal with a lil bit of melodeath tossed in
| frozencarl i feel ya man. think you might like this: https://www.sputnikmusic.com/soundoff.php?albumid=301749
| frozencarl i do the same with your ratings :' ) how are you holding up with this pandemic? im pretty sad today man, not gonna be able to see Insomnium play drawn to black tonight.
| frozencarl dude check this album out, some really solid blackened melodic death that no one seems to know about https://www.sputnikmusic.com/soundoff.php?albumid=318491
| parksungjoon might be interested in some of the metal or metalcore here :] cheers https://www.sputnikmusic.com/list.php?listid=190800
| frozencarl write up a review for it man! i've been showing it around as well ;D
| frozencarl yea so this Aesmah album ****ing rules. dont even mind the hour runtime, its just that good
| frozencarl of course i remember you ;D those are some mighty words man, i'll check it out here shortly. how about that Pandemonium album though?? super underrated stuff. you should check out the Shaded Enmity album i just rated as well, really solid no frills melodeath.
| Dimorphic Lol just checked your page and it says I sent that message 31st Jan... Did I post that yesterday? I got reaaaally drunk yesterday and it was a tired sort of drunk. No memory of posting that, and no recollection of why I would have said it. Apologies - but I'm sure you do have a treasure trove of beautiful music. Check the s*** out of the band I'm digging atm (Heiden) for the most beautiful metal I've ever heard (not death, kinda post-metal sort of thing, I'm not great with genres).
| Dimorphic Still haven't found any truly beautiful death metal. If you have, please share it. Glhf.
| mthilliard Happy I could help you find it again! I'm trying to dig deep into prog/melodic metalcore and Petroglyphs is right up my alley :D
| frozencarl yea man, good melodeath in that vein is hard to come by these days. I saw that Forefoomed album in the related bands for Shadecrown on spotify and was drawn in by the album art haha, was not disappointed at all. the cleans are really well done imo
| frozencarl yea so that's pretty much the best melodeath i've heard this year. what insomnium should've released.
| frozencarl thanks for the heads up man, i had no idea. listening now m/
| jakeboehmer idk man, with how stoked i was for mordial and how much i liked i guess it made me understand it a little better or notice some things i hadn't really noticed before. but listening to it after mordial felt like my first time three years ago because i pre-ordered meta and was just as stoked so maybe that factors in a little too. the oppressor is hands down my fav song by them tho that final breakdown hits ****in HARD.
| Tundra Perhaps, I am pretty picky with deathcore though tbh
| MarsKid Been very busy as of late but I'll do my best to deliver the goods my man
| MarsKid I dunno my man, this is coming across as way too scattered to me. They're incredibly ambitious, which is respectable, but they're stretching themselves thin. Ironic in a way: Taether was flawed because it had a few good ideas that were exhausted by the long runtime, yet this is flawed because it has many good ideas that are crammed into a heap in a very short runtime.
| MarsKid Like it thus far to an extent, but it honestly sounds kind of muddy? Does that make sense? Like the production is so cluttered and it's causing a lot of unnecessary white noise.
| MarsKid So what's the word on new Ritual Aura, good stuff?
| KjSwantko Dope. I'm from Upstate New York. So the closest they ever come is about 3.5 hours away. Haven't made the trip yet but will one of these tours. Psyched for you that you get to go see them. My favorite band of all time. m/
| KjSwantko If you have not, make sure to watch the live Evergrey album from 2004, A Night to Remember. Amazing!
| MarsKid Funny you should mention that, I've currently got it in my personal list-of-stuff-to-check. I'll take your word as a good sign of quality!
| AnimalsAsSummit yes!!! man glad you're digging it, I found it a few days ago. haven't heard their second album yet (my next eventual mission) but I hear really good things.
| DarkNoctus absolutely! it's everything i've ever wanted from one of their releases. it delivers in every single aspect. i adore it. so glad i'm not alone on it!
| SitarHero Yo man, you digging that Pineapple Express EP?
| Voivod Thanks for the heads up, will give it a go!
| Risodo Thanks for your words, bro! I'll keep the work on that, writing about music is always a pleasure to me.
| Risodo It's fine, my friend, there is no need to apologize. I agree with your conclusion, and i further extend this debate by telling you that i realize this on almost every record that is released by a Deathcore band. Have you listened to Slugdge? The sound of them is more Stoner/Sludge but it is done with the alien theme and with a great amount of riffs and sound alternations.
| Risodo Hey mate, i don't hate Rings Of Saturn, i found their works pretty enjoyable to be honest. My point in that soundoff is about the lack of "good" bands who make records with this theme. Ulla is ok, Lugal is the s***. So, in other words, my comment is like a sarcasm, not a hate comment.
| Deathconscious nice, yeah that average is looking low. i see you have some reviews under your belt, you know Axis Mundi could use one. ehhh? eehhhhhh??
| kascetcadettt here's a thread where you can discuss how fantastic it is to be a part of this moment: http://www.sputnikmusic.com/list.php?listid=174557 \\\ don't be scared to share the news with other guys in case i missed someone out and keep shining in the light of this beautiful rock n roll fireplate, god bless, hasanmedia represent
| kascetcadettt sieg hi it's-a me smooth brotha from the umpteenth block taggin' em trainz comin' from your favorite station, word on the street is (artuma is gay) my new album came out recently and if that's the last thing i ever do let it be, leavin' the link in your hands my man: http://poleyounger.bandcamp.com/album/go-daylight \\\ feel FREE to 1 it if u didn't like my agressive self promotion campaign, feel FREE to thank me if this album saved your life
| zaruyache ikr it just feels like it's missing something, like tracks never crescendo and hit those highs like they used to. Like you just cut all the choruses out or something.
| MarsKid It was certainly a lot different, but I ended up liking it pretty much the same as their debut. Don't think it needed to be this long and could have been trimmed to make a much better, concise release, but this works. Cover still sucks ass too.
| MarsKid Okay, I am cautiously curious about this. I don't remember being thrilled with the singles but I'm willing to give them a chance. Album seems to be pretty long too.
| MarsKid Completely forgot about new Ritual Aura, how'd that turn out?
| MarsKid I'm used to it. A lot of people disagree with my musical opinions.
| bloc I've only listened to it once so far, but it didn't really grab me at all :( I'm quite surprised at how underwhelming the album is but I hope a few more listens will change that.
| bloc http://www.metalsucks.net/2015/10/15/exclusive-full-album-stream-gorods-a-maze-of-recycled-creeds/
| bloc I hear ya, I got high hopes for the new one
| bloc Ya, those were exactly my thoughts on the vocals; they seem strained. Overall, I'd give the album a 2.5, whereas I have their debut somewhere between 3.5 and 4. As for new Gorod, I'm assuming you've heard some of their new songs? They kick ass indeed. I much prefer Absolution over Process, but my overall favourite album of theirs is Leading Vision. Recently, I've been listening to Absolution a LOT so it's creeping up to be my close second fav.
| bloc Listening to the new Ouroboros album and it kinda sucks :/ what the hell happened to the vocals???
| KevinKC I quite like Church of Execution, Genexus and Expiration Date. I don't exactly love Regenerate though. To me, it's the weaker track on this. Even though it's still far from being shameful.
| KevinKC Hello. Well, Genexus feels like a very solid addition to Fear Factory's discography to me. I think it's a very good album to discover the band. I'm a bit tired of Dino's guitar tone but I cannot deny the fact that it is really well crafted, a lot better than The Industrialist or Mechanize.
| Dmax28 Thanks a lot friend! Those recommendations really help with where to start. Let me know what you think of the new record when it is released. I love me some industrial metal.
| KevinKC Digimortal is hated because more commercial, shorter songs, less aggression, but once you're passed that, it actually has some nice tunes (deluxe version necessary). Obsolete is the second best although some fillers too, Mechanize is very good but feels a bit less substantial, not very industrial. The Industrialist is loved and hated, to me it's good but boring. I would avoid starting with Transgression/The Industrialist or Soul of a New Machine.
| KevinKC If you've never listened to Fear Factory and enjoyed "promotech" you have some nice hours of appreciation to come. Demanufacture is obviously the best one even though it contains some filler tracks but I'd say it is often a question a sensitivities with Fear Factory. Archetype and transgression have a different guitarist and it feels, they're also less "industrial" and more melodic.
